Blew a coolant hose somewhere behind alternator after doing a pull on the highway, couldn't even tell where it was last night and it snowed today so i'm going to have to check it out tomorrow, and just like the saying goes, there's a first time for everything Screen Shot 2014-03-25 at 11.29.50 AM.png Now me and the mad scientist got to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings i fried.

Drove mine last night after installing the cheap ranger driveshaft bearing. Driveshaft feels fine, but my intermittent starting problem is still present. Codes 14 and 43. It only fails to start. Cranks good, but doesn't start. it will pop start just fine.

Looks like I need to start a thread on it to bring in the cumulative knowledge of SM... :/

i spent more time online trying to find a new turbo, and other parts. i haven't gotten a reply from albert on his 60-1, so i might consider an sp turbo.
any suggestions for a bolt on model? i want a new one now. lol

if thats the bolt on turbo ur talking abiut thats cheap and made for 7M then maybe dont. i wanted as well but its not that bolt on after all and doesnt lasts long. could if u use it carefully but its risk anyways.

I don't think SP turbos are "cheap" but I guess I don't have any actual experience with them. But there are plenty of bolt-on turbos for the 7M that will last a long time. And I'm not talking about ebay turbos...And give Albert some time, he's a busy guy but has always replied to my PM's sooner or later. I can vouge that his 60-1 is a good turbo. When I had my car running right that turbo PULLLLLED hard.

FINALLY traced out my starting circuit.. Mainly because I hopped in my car, and it didn't start. Apparently it had gotten so bad that it wouldn't even trip the relay I put on for the relay mod...

Anyway, I finally realize why JJ and 3p never really tell you whats wrong in all the "help! my car wont start" threads.. It's painfully obvious.. That, and it makes total sense.. After all, why would the wiring on just that circuit be crap?

i've heard a lot of good things about the sp "bolt on" turbos. what i want is something that's good for 400-450 wheel. i originally wanted one from albert, but i haven't gotten a reply.
i just talked to someone at precision, and they make the ones for sp engineering. i was just hoping to get it for less than $999.
either way, i'm ready to pull the trigger.

I did when I first got my first supra, good news that turbo is still running today(not on my car) but it took a lot of modification, it's a "bolt on replacement" but the stock accordian hose doesn't fit, it's oil cooled so you need t4 style softlines, the wastegate actuator lasted about a month before we had to modify a stock wastegate to work on it, the wastegate sticks open, the spools same as my masterpower t70. 96ar,

Not worth the money

Go with what's trusted.. Lol.

I did a used turbo... Wasted 1600.00...

Quite honestly.. if I would do this all again (too bad I cant backtrack), I would seriously go with the following:

1000 cc Injectors (Injector Dynamics)
T4 Garrett Turbo (3" vband with a .68 AR) double ball bearing
T4 Mani (to fit)
3" exhaust mated to a HKS Catback (cat is optional, but its not a fart cannon)
HKS intercooler (not the DM 7M upgrade which is okay, but its a split so performance is questionable (and its CRX)
Stand alone (I am lucky to have a HKS Fcon Vpro 3.3, unbelievable how well this puppy is controlling my engine)
Stock ECU (for idle timings/AC function)
HKS BOV
HKS EVC-S boost controller
Innovate Wideband
Denso MKIV Fuel pump (340 lph?)
DM 7M AFPR

Why?

Because its what I ended with (mind you, I am forced to stick with a SP6262 .68 AR simply because I have a HKS longrunner manifold and everything is setup for that manifold and turbo right now).

Everything works so well (I'm waiting for the replacement turbo) I am just amazed when I sit in the car... However...

I had to go through 2 CT26 upgrades, dicking around with the DM intercooler that wont fit the way its supposed to (You are meant to run it through the intake hole instead of the fender... its really a stupid design in the end because they could have done it right by taking a couple hours to rejig it to fit the stock route without any issue whatsoever)... and then a failed SP6267 used turbo... Now I have a CT26 DDP that I will have to sell (Raptor racing one.. excellent DDP btw), I had to sell the turbos for dirt cheap, had to get rid of the 550's, had to get rid of the Lexus AFM, etc.. etc..

It would have saved me almost as much as it cost me, because I am having a shop do all the work, but in the end, I would have ended up where I am anyway just because its the best route to go.

What I learned through the past 5-6 years and a whole mess of cash is.. the 7M is setup with 25 year old technology. The CT26 has limits regardless what anyone tells you regarding the 400-500 rwhp... its a small turbo so it will run out of breath in the end. The injectors are old technology and the ECU, although its excellent at saving your engine by running pig rich, is old technology and probably a contributing factor for most of the issues with the 7M.

People warned me at different stages that I was cutting corners and all of them were right. However, as my wife says... "you don't trust anything anyone says.. you have to always see yourself... so go ahead... see what happens". Wise woman... she knows me.. lol.

If your going BPU on a 7M, that's excellent! Providing that is all you want. Anything more and you may as well go standalone and do it all up right. Your car and engine will thank you.. as will your pocket book.

Any corner I have cut has had to been uncut. Go with proven...

(unless your a gear head and enjoy doing things over and over.. lol)

albert has been busy, if you look in his thread he said he probably won't be doing any ct rebuilds for a while after his remaining wheels are gone. Can i suggest a GT30?

i saw that he was busy. he posted that he had 2 60-1's to sell right now. i sent him a message right away, but nothing yet.
i want to go with a bolt-on turbo because i have a new bic ddp and new intercooler piping. if that stuff was stock still, i'd definitely go with a complete t4 setup.

damn. THAT sucks. it's down to albert or sp engineering. new all the way for me. :)
Nothing against SP Engineering, but they're a little overpriced. If you want a bolt-on, get the CT-26 rebuilt. IIRC, the CT-26 runs out of breath at about 14PSI. But it all depends on your HP goals as well as a lot of other things. If you want big power, go with something else.
