Well I helicoiled my exhaust threads when I did my BHG a couple of years ago and a couple of weeks ago I heard an exhaust tick so I bought all of the exhaust gaskets and new exhaust nuts, etc. as I was reinstalling everything I noticed one stud right under the CPS would get difficult to screw in then if I kept at it it would spin freely and tighten up again until I surpassed that breaking point and it would repeat. I am not sure if that stud is bad or the helicoil gave out. I will know for sure once I have the time to reinstall my downpipe since with this stupid ebay downpipe it's IMPOSSIBLE to put the bottom nut on the exhaust manifold side on unless you put it on first with the downpipe barely going through the turbo studs also you cannot get a socket on it you can barely get an open ended wrench on it. I plan on buying a BIC downpipe anyway but not sure if I want recirculated or open wastegate like the pipe I have on now. I do like how it sounds open wastegate but I wish I could find a video of how it sounds recirculated with a tanabe exhaust. The weird thing is I was able to torque all of the exhaust manifold nuts to 30 ft lbs according to the TSRM specs but I think the leak is from the downpipe due to that one nut I couldn't get on and by the time I noticed I couldn't get that nut on I had everything else bolted up and I was exhaust, so I said screw it I am broken I'll do it later no big deal.

Well, I don't have any of my screws Helicoiled, but I do know a bit about the BIC downpipe because I run an open circulated DDP on my Supra. One word to describe it is "AMAZING" the sound is ridiculous and sounds like an 800+hp Supra. I don't have any video of a recirculated version, but I have some crappy uncirculated video if you want to hear it, although it doesn't provide it any real justice.

Here is how mine sounds with the open wastegate this was also before I had my 3in tanabe cat back on so it was basically open downpipe lol.

Sure man post up whatever videos you have lol I do wonder if I go with a closed wastegate would it have more of the muffler note because right now I love how the car sounds it has a mean growl to it. During that dyno run I was saying in my head "please don't blow up please don't blow up please don't blow up"

I laughed at the DMV or court house whatever when I got the new plates after I transferred the title over to my name I looked at them and I was like HOLY CRAP IT STARTS WITH BHG!! The lady gave me a weird look and I told her what BHG stood for and why I laughed.

Haha. Sounds nearly identical to my car. Here are a couple videos. Don't mind the video's, they are quite old.

Dude let me tell you. I have a video from a phone of my buddy filming when I took it from 1st to 3rd and I swear on my life it sounds like that famous black Supra on the strip that does 9sec on a 1/4. So deep and ridiculous it still shocks me to this day. Must be a good phone video recorder. Still have yet to recover the video, but most likely from an older phone my friend threw out. I have to ask him.

Welp next thing on the list is a BIC open dump DDP lol
Here is another video that I recently made testing out the boost after I replaced all of my exhaust gaskets and replaced the oil feed/return lines with the DM soft line kit. The turbo sounded SO GOOD during this test run then it went back to sounding normal which confused me and made me sad.

So, that's obviously the video where your Supra sounded amazing, because it certainly did.... what 'sound' went back to normal?

Sounds how it did before I replaced the gaskets that made no difference with the exhaust leak lol. It doesn't have that loud rush of air sound like in the video but it still sounds sexy. The sound I am talking about you can hear it clearly at 6 seconds in the video.

Did you change the air filter? Sounds like the wooshing sound of the air filter?

I didn't change anything I just changed the manifold and turbo gaskets, 11psi DM actuator, and the oil feed/return lines to soft lines.

Must be the actuator then. Might be tighter? Not causing it to open up as early possibly?

I just bought my first Supra on Friday (1987 turbo with 1989 taillights and trim) and I've never had so much fun driving before in my life. Today, I took the top off for the first time and drove it down some of my favorite roads near NC 107 to make sure this MAF-T translator's set up right. It's a little fiddly, but idles and cruises better now.

I do think there might be a vac leak as well -- I went up an inclined approach to a hairpin, let off the throttle and into the clutch, aaaaand it stalled out. Did the same approaching a red light on an incline, and again when leaving my friend's house on an incline. (Not an ideal problem to have in the mountains -- inclines errwhere.)

Otherwise, I love this freaking car and I'm looking forward to keeping up the work on it!

I honestly don't feel like the wet noodle is as bad as most people say it is.. much like nearly EVERY job I have ever done with my car.. such as suspension bushing replacements. Everyone said it was a Bitch but I found it rather easy.

The only time I ever really feel the wet noodle is going over railroad tracks.. other than that it's pretty stiff still.
