My kids laugh at me because I stand in front of my cars doing nothing. They ask me what I'm up to, and I just say"looking for a tool I can't find". 5 times out of 10 I will spot it.

Just done it too many times in the past.
ahahaha I do the same sometimes I stand like superman with my fists on my hip just staring.

installed my catch can today. also polished up a spare compressor housing and igniter. i also did the ground mod to the igniter.
i spent the last few days worrying how to hook up the catch can. i've seen 50 different ways to do it. i decided to run it inline with the stock piping.

Looks good, but I wonder how much stress that oil bolt will take for turbo retaining. I am seraching to do something like that but else where for a location. The CT26 had a bolt on the turbine hotside for retaining.

yes it did, that's what i'd use for this. I wouldn't be surprised to see the fitting leak when it gets hot

Oil bolt?
The bolt that attatches to the turbo goes straight into the iron of the center cartridge. I don't see any chance of stressing anything here.
Besides, I only plan to place mild tension on this assembly, as it's only purpose is to reduce the workload of the exhaust manifold studs.

Question should be "What did your supra do to you today?" Well, my supra busted the top of my right thumb wide open, trying to get the trans. drain bolt loose. I got it loose and hurt myself at the same time, luckily. Trans oil was fiiiilthy. As I've discovered, not changing your gear oil is a bad thing (not my doing). Also installed the NM V2 shifter. I notched the cover plate by hand. (lots of fun, somewhere around 45 min of filing) The factory rubber bezel (part that wraps around stereo, ect.) almost wouldn't fit back on. But it did. Overall pretty pleased with the shifter though. I think I'll be even happier with it when I put my low-mileage r154 in.

Sorry guys, but it was a lil too dark for pics. I got a couple though. For some reason the light makes my thumb look not nearly as bad as it actually does. Hurt like hell when I smashed it and knocked a good chunk of flesh back (typical supra abuse). Doesn't hurt now, just looks like hell.

bahahah too funny. I can honestly say I've been there, plenty of times. But what you didn't see was the stack of 20's beside it. It's ok, though. It's all getting spent on the supra. Wheels, tires, BW 58mm turbo, AEM EMS, oil cooler setup, fuel system, complete overhaul of nearly every suspension component.

That is a fine stack of 20s you have. I am jealous!

Replaced my TPS tonight. Here is a pic of the new and old.

Cropped TPS.jpg

Left is superceded PN 89452-20050, right is likely 20 year old original PN 89452-28030.

The old one was gummed up or something, so it would take around 30 minutes to spring back after the throttle closed.

Thanks to JetJock for the Code 51 thread that got me correctly diagnosing the problem. I am now code free!!!

my bad big ballin lol. I just got home from driving from work in the rain and I had my arm resting on the door right by the window and my hand was on the wheel then I felt a drop of water. I was like wtf there better not be another damn leak, so I was feeling all around the targa areas then when I got to a light I put my hand back in the same position and looked where it could have dripped from. It seems to have dripped from the top of the windshield but I didn't feel any wind, water, or anything like that.

It's happened to me before. Could be your top was just being particular? One of my 89's was like that. Didn't leak but every once in a blue moon you'd get a stray drop of water.

it wouldn't surprise me, before I unblocked my drip rail I used to get some drops from the targa bolt housing but it wasn't coming from there. The leaks in these cars are weird lol.

the endless machine shop wait continues. fuck i could have imported and installed a 1j by now.

yeah, but if you had any sense about it you'd tear down the 1j and at least check it out, replace seals = more waiting
