How low was your oil? I've been trying to track all the r/k cases and it seems almost all(but not all) have been due to either low oil or extremely hard braking.

Good luck and keep us posted. I'll be doing a rebuild this summer if i can afford it whether mine goes before then or not.

thanks, but I have neither the time nor money to keep her down that long, and I fear opening her up will affect the headgasket...

gonna just buy a JDM 7MGE in the mean time and toss that in while I save up for a 2J; since 1Js arent street legal in California...and I like 2Js more anyway...

Well some people are very controversial about the jdm motors....i know time is money, but while you have the motor out and putting in the jdm, at least change the oil pump, and maybe the the head gasket...if you're feeling frisky, because the motor is out and it's easy to get to:]....most motors might have the longest of a 6 month warranty, then that oil pressure drops....then pops up the knock again...at least in my experiences...some people may disagree

Don't know about the oil level at the moment, I had to go to work early the next morning so my dad towed it to his mechanics house..

I'm working with my girlfriends neighbor (ASE certified mechanic) about swapping for a JDM, or to just rebuild as recommended earlier..

Gonna call as soon as I get off at 3:30...

I've killed 3 engines, so I feel your pain.

If you're buying a used engine, you'd better replace the HG right off the bat, and change the rod bearings. I speak from experience.

That sucks dude...sorry to hear that. But you clocked alot of miles! If you go jdm swap do the HG and oil pump no question. As for the rest at least inspect/replace the rod bearings to prevent future RK as black mk3 stated.

You'll be much happier in the long run with a fresh rebuild.

JDM is the same as a junk yard motor. Old, used, and abused.
