damn thats really weird. almost looks as though someone pulled your piston out and hit the outside of the skirt with a screwdriver and hammer and put it back in.

I first posted "Did you check the clearance of the rings in relation to the bore size."

But then edited and asked "Do you have crank walk?" because the impact seems to be on the other side.

Definitely looks like it rocked into the block. Are there any scores in the block?

yeah that hole is pretty banged up. I may have had crank walk looking back since my car went through rear mail seals like mad

i wonder if this piston was not in the cylinder all the way when the crank was put down on it. Maybe the weight of the crank caused the piston which was sitting tilted in the bore to hit on the edge of the cylinder and bend some before going into the hole. but i dont think your piston was installed improperly.

only other thing i could think of is a piece of the end of the ring broke off and lodged in there.
whats the cylinder wall look like?

Looks to me like something was left inside the motor on rebuild.
