so i confirmed it 100% today, actually like 5 or 6 times. haha. theres no "kick" after 4300... i was kind of sad... but the low end is still amazing to me... i throughly enjoy having an N/A, it handles, and its plenty fast enough for in town. but is the "thing" between my 2-piece driveshaft a pinion bearing? or is that the carrier bearing? and what exactly is the pinion bearing? cause the local napa will sell me one for $34 cause he knows im poor. hahaha. and IJ, i KNOW you have a trick to keeping the oil dipstick in, so you must share that info. =)

I come from a land down under
Renn: A pinion bearing is the front small bearings in the snout of the Differential.

The thing in the middle of the shaft is the carrier bearing.

I usually rebuild the motor so it doesn't have blowby as this is what's pushing the dipstick out ;) (you could try a slight bend up near where it seats to help it stay put but your motor is tired if it's pushing the dip out)

hmm.... ok, thats what i thought, might be worth changing just for the hell of it, i wanna get a 1-piece steel drive shaft it i do that though....

and the motor is rebuilt, and it has a catch can on it, and theres no oil in it...

i mean the actual dipstick tube, the holder that has the dipstick in it. i cant get it to stay in the block... im going to try again, but i might just get another one and then make my own, i can weld, so thats no problem. doesnt horsepowerfreaks sell a universal dipstick tube?

For your ACIS you can see if its working right under the hood by manually moving the throttle body up past 4000 RPM and looking at the little valve between the intake runners. If the valve doesn't move then the system is not working and you won't get a slight kick in the pants as you rev past 4000 rpm. If it isn't working then make sure the hose is connected to it under the intake which goes to the little ISV attatched to the vacuum cannister.
If the system is working then you will feel a surge or kick in the pants past 4000. Its not "Pin you in your seat" power but it is a litle kick none the less.

im not too concerned if its not working, i would much rather get the oil dipstick tube in place, and also get the vibration the hell out of my car. thanks for the help. especially IJ. what kind of numbers do you have with that LPG stuff anyways?

Is there anywhere i can get the center carrier bearing for less than 200? cause i really dont wanna spend 200 for an OEM piece... i'll gladly fork out the extra 150 and get the 1 piece driveshaft...

Try Toyota of Dallas on line. I use them for factory parts, they seem to have good prices and they ship pretty quick. Or O'riellys or AZ they usally take a couple of trys to get the right part.

ya know, my supra does the same thing. It's an Na auto targa. My center carrier bearing is new, tires are balanced (road force balance machine is the shyt), and my car still does the shimmy at 35-40 or so. I think its just something to do with the targa cars personally, because of flex .
