Vibration at 35mph

Well first off i want to just say hi, i've been a member of here for a while now, my brother had 2 supras, which got me into them. Always wanted one since i got my first in the turbo 87 he had... but now i have his 86.5 N/A that we rebuilt and did all sorts of good stuff to. but onto the real question...

I have a vibration RIGHT under the center console at 35mph... not 30, not 40... just 35. Slowing down, speeding up, or just driving at 35, its there... been under the car and looked, and i cant see anything thats blatent... Anybody have some ideas?

And just some background on the car....
86.5 picked up from oakland with rodknock and blowing more black smoke that a diesel. Pulled the engine, rebuilt it and did a TON of work to it... gotta love those pick and pulls. But just within the last 6 months, my brother moved down to long beach so before he went, he took off the A/c, took off the p/s, redid the front bushings, put on electric fans, its lowered on blue tociko(sp?) and i believe H&R springs, just a lot of good stuff to the car. but its crazy having no powersteering.

Get under neath the car and try and move the drive shaft side-side, up-down, and see if theres excessive play. Might have a bad U-joint/center bearing.

Does it have a half life to the vibration - it will make the similiar vibration at 70 too if it has something to do with your suspension in any way.... had a guy one time say his car shook at 100 some odd miles an hour... and it would make the same noise at exactly half the speed he proclaimed it was at - just a lot less noticeable.

well i took it up to 80ish on the freeway last night, and there wasnt a noise i could hear, its just at 35, and i slightly moved the driveshaft earlier, did i really tug on it? no... but i'll get under and do that tomorrow. but i have a few more questions.

The oil dipstick tube? how the hell do you get that to stay?!?!??!

TOMA70E dont you live in like stockton or modesto? you or anybody have any mini-meets out there?

If it keeps blowing out then either your PCV plumbing is thoroughly clogged or you've got bad rings (which could possibly contribute to or cause your vibration issue).

well there is a catch can from the valve covers then to the TB... but why would that contribute to a vibration at 35mph? that just makes no sense.... am i missing something?

was your oil dipstick tube a second question?? but if you find out how to make it stay put, let me know!!

for your vibration question, are your tires well balanced and check your lower ball joints...

and i was talking to my brother, and he said that the center console was making the rattling noise... anybody else have this problem?

oh, and does anybody know if theres a difference between 89 N/A injectors and 86.5 inectors? if you have tried, let me know please.

Sight along the UNI joints to see if they're all in line it could be the rubber bonded section that has let the shaft twist out of phase.

Is it auto or 5 speed? If auto, the linkage could be loose....Auto's from the supra, and cressida's tend to have had that problem...I think it's even A recall on TIS...

Its a 5-speed, its fun chirping them into 2nd gear. haha.

and IJ, how do i check to make sure my ACIS is working properly? do you know how?

and according to my brother the driveshaft was bad when he bought the car... so now im debating aftermarket steel 1-piece, or something else... but he said that, that was only causing the slight clunck when it first gets going.

and then do you know if theres a difference between 89 and 86.5 inectors and there clips? (you know everything else hahaha) just kinda wondering since i wanted to buy a set of used injectors and get them flow benched and all that good stuff.

LOL well there ya go that's something I don't know 100%!

I know they did change but aren't sure exactly when and on which cars.

One of the guys will jump in with the correct info soon.
(I haven't used Gas in my car for 5+ years now)

haha, well i guess i have to keep researching or waiting then... not in a big hurry. just like to do good ol' maintence. and how do you feel about cutting a stock shifter to make it a "short" shifter? or do you think i should just scrap the one that my brother made and get a V3 one?

So you've been running ethanol i take it?

Cut shifters tend to buzz at cruise so = yuck

I run LPG here.

I dont think mine buzzes... but then again i have quite a few noises going on... and i tend to focus on steering the car since it has no power steering and horrible camber.

and whats LPG? if you dont mind sharing that with me.
