Vexing Problem

That hose often fails when the factory heat shields are removed or broken, especially the little L-shaped metal tab between the ex manifold and the hose.

Ya -- that heat shield is still there. This was just an old hose, wrong size (3/4" instead of the correct 5/8"), and just weak altogether. All "fixed" now...

I ordered several of those hoses from Toyota, and kept them in the car at all times. I'd go through them about once a year.
