vented stock hood?

ok im bored so i started thinking what i could to the car
im interested in pics of custom hood's
im thinking of adding three vents to the stock hood and cutting the supports underneath
i read on here that even without the supports the hood is pretty strong and doesn't require hood pins (can anyone verify that?)

i want to add a vent in the center cowl about 3/4 of the way up the hood (towards the glass)
and add a single vent on either side of that, about the halfway up the hood

what do you all think?

i had a GA70 stock hood that kyle (projectsupra) custom vented and it was really nice i loved it. you might be able to find it searching around here.

I've seen a thread on Adding GTO (3000gt VR4) Hood Vents to our stock hoods And they are around $40 ebay. VR4's Don't really utilize them much aside from Looks. But If you cut A vent opening in the stock hood on either side of the cowl You'd Be able too Vent Either your exhaust Manifold/Turbo setup or Intake manifold. I have the setup ready at home but I haven't added them yet. I will post up a pic As soon as I can. :biglaugh:

I was told that the best place to add a vent to the stock hood was 15" back from the front edge. This puts it between the radiator and the front of the engine. This is an area which has low pressure due to the shape of the hood and is placed where it can actually do some good for the radiator.

There are a few local guys with this done and it looks great.

^^^ would like to see pics of that. i guess radiator assistance is beneficial but they are also good for reducing heat soak of the hot and cold sides of the motor.

wow. those gto vents look pretty terrible. weren't they strut covers to begin with?

I personally Don't think they look bad at all But thats my Opinion. Plus I think that its a great way to vent the hood For under $60. (Plus adding washers if removing the Weatherstripping near the firewall Up near the Wipers)

On a side note, has anyone Tried Cutting holes in there Nose Pieces to replicate a Regulus Header panel??? hahaha :cry:
Realistically It doesn't seem very hard to Do but I've never seen any attempts (Prolly for a good Reason)

Removing the weatherstripping and shimming the hood does NOT vent the engine bay. That's an area of high pressure and it anything will hinder the flow through the radiator.

It's idiot drift crap.

Now the GTO vents, they're too round and don't match the styling.

They're not just holes though, they actually go back, so they're technically scoops, not vents...

it's doable, infact that's how the mold was made for the replicas (including the one I have)..

I have seen a (Pic of A Type A inlet) That was Rounded Kinda like an oval I guess. Obviously custom Right? Because Why would an Aero Shop make a secondary To the Type A OEM inlet?

I have only seen that on bomex bumpers, I think it is in their design.

This looks nice and subtle while being useful. It also doesn't cause a problem when raining or washing the car because of the vent location.

i was not aware that finding innovative ways to achieve practical and beneficial goals such as lowering under hood temperatures and assisting the radiator in its function, when dealing with our cars was a non productive hobby

please elaborate on what a productive hobby means to you
