That's what I was thinking of doing, I bought the OBX knock off version of the bigger catch can a long time ago not knowing there weren't any baffles in it and it was just hollow... I'm gonna be buying another one it looks like ;).

The only reason I can think of not venting to the atmosphere is if you drive on a track. I know a buddy of mine that just clamped two hoses to the PCV ports and ran them over and down beside the intake manifold. He had a Greddy catch can but couldn't get it plumbed correctly and instead did the above modification. Personally, I plan to just use the hoses. KISS-keep it simple stupid; plus it's a lot cheaper.

P.S.- I'm not saying doing is the best way to perform this modification.

Im not sure I follow you 100% but it seems like you are saying that you just have some lines hooked up to your PCV that allow the oil/gases to go to the atmosphere? If I understand correctly then you should re-read this thread. That system you described, with open hoses, has no vacuum and would therefore not allow the PCV to function correctly. If I misunderstood your post I'm sorry but I doubt it.

If he's describing them ending at the intake manifold, you're right. He did it wrong.

If he extended them down to the oil pan or transmission, he did it semi-right. Road draft is the term, and it's still used on over-the-road Semi's to this day. At work, our 2004 Chevy C4500 ramp truck with a 7.8L Duramax even has one.
