Well I thought about posting in the "92 for sale" thread, but am posting here.

Here is link for you guys.

http://musclecarclub.com/other-cars/imports/toyota-supra/toyota-supra.shtml

As you can see production #'s: (can't vouch for accuracy, I'm sure Jeff can verify though given his knowledge of the supras)
86.5 - 33,283
87 - 29,907
88 - 19,596
89 - 14,544
90 - 6419
91 - 3623
92 - 1193

Well in summary $7500 for a 92 might seem high to most of the mk3 crowd but give it 10 years and lets see what it will fetch.

If I wasn't strapped I'd already own this fine car.

$7500 for a clean 92 is worth it. I'd probably pay a grip for a nice clean MK3 if I were looking for one.

Low production #'s, lots of mk4 love (avg mk4 car is pampered no doubt) is why mk4's are so expensive. I'd say mint mk3's are in the same class as far as rarity goes just not in same $$$ league. Which doesn't bother me cuz I love to drive the mk3 220k and still going.

It is because of the demand of a MK4. And because many think it is a good looking car (which I think it is) so a shell would probably sell for more then a nice running MK3. It is just the way it is. Just like many other cars out there.

The A80 Supra is just a more popular platform, If the A70 ever becomes a collectors item, the 92's will fetch more money obviously. But if you are trying to sell your car on craigslist to any Joe Schmoe, he isn't going to give a rats ass if its a 92.

92's are that rare?

So... If I passed on a deal to buy a rust free 92 turbo with seized bottom end and shadow gray interior in order to buy a slightly rusty running 88 N/A, how much of an idiot would I be?

Any Don Whon would have known better than to do something like that ;).

Please tell me you didn't do that?

The value of the MKIII should be going up around March :naughty:

Speaking of value, according to KBB the average value of my car has gone up $900 over the last year in my area. Interesting.

Would you be mad at me if I did?

Because I did...

The car is probably a coke can now, it was either I bought it, or the car was going to the junkyard.

Yes Ladies and gentlemen, I'm an idiot. :D

The episode of pinks featuring the MKIII airs in march.

I'm skeptical that one episode of a not too major show is going to change prices that much, but then again, a bit of media attention never hurt anyone.
