My passneger side (drivers side to you guys) front upper arm appears to have grease leaking out the rubber boot. Has anyone here managed to repair them? or is it time for a complete new arm? If so does anyone know if these are toyota only items? and a rough idea on price would be cool aswell as i can bet itll be a lot cheaper than in england

Someone repaired them, but the cost was about the same as a new set.

Get it from the dealer 200$ range.
or talk to CKanderson.

KicknAsphlt : the upper control arm balljoints are not replaceable.

CK is not the guy that repaired them. (I wouldn't go that route)
He is the Automotive Express guy around here.

its for the mot though. im asuming that if its leaking grease then it will be classed as a failiure point. unless its possible to buy new rubber boots.

I know if the lower is leaking (it also has grease all round it) then that would be a failure aswell.

yeah i did that. i couldnt see the joint moving when i asked my dad to rock the wheel. i couldnt feel anything when i touched the joint with my fingers either.

"Failure point"

the mot is a yearly check that any car over 3 years old must pass to be legally on the road. An mot is needed to obtain insurance and road tax.

appologies if you already knew that lol

a failure point is something not up to standard that the mot tester finds during the mot test.

for example a ball joint with a split seal is a fail

i'm actually trying what ck sells(karlyn industries). i hope they will last. however,i believe that if a company took the time to make an aluminium arm, they would atleast put a quality balljoint.
i also believe that someone here on s.m. ,had a machinist make a pair of popular balljoints fit in the arm. which is what i will do if the karlyn arms don't stand to the test!!

Yeah, thats how it should be! I was gonna say f^%$ it. Get a set of JIC or Ikeya arms. Adjustable and if that BJ will never go bad. Unless you derail the car
