I wish I could get some 100 octane around here, but we're stuck in the stone ages and 93 octane is all I can get at a station. I'm sure I could make over 500 then, but I still think I"ve got a timing issue since I'm pulling so much fuel with my safcII. My car is running awesome, but it could probably run better.............:dunno:

About 4 years ago when I had started my 1JZ project, I said that the CT-26 or CT Upgraded would be an ideal turbo for the 1JZ with a y-pipe from the stock manifolds. Everyone told me I was wrong and that I was young and stupid. Grrr!

Mike just dyno'd a 60-1 ct26 on his new 1jz with my manifold and a Stinger and it made 300whp at only 8psi! As soon as he hits 500 miles and the boost controller gets installed I think the skeptics are going to be silenced.

But it's not going to make 500whp without race gas reguardless of what turbo you run, and the gt35r would be about the right size to do it.
You will need well over 20psi, and on pump gas that's pushing it.
Although, once you have driven a 400whp 1jz I think you will be satisfied, and a 57trim ct26 should be able to do that.

GT-35R is a great street turbo even on pump. But way better on high octane. If the goal is 500hp on pump GT4088 is the best bet. Personnaly I'm going AMS GT-37R turbo can you say 500hp pump with a Gt-35R spool?

i haven't seen a gt35r hit 500 on pump. i always see them in the 23-25 psi mark

maybe i'll go with a gt4088 then

i'd like to have a gt4067 but im not spending over 1K on a turbo

well, he said 950 for any s300 or s400 series. spool is claimed to be better because of the extended tips.
from what I've seen usually slower.. due to heavy wheels & larger shafts.. the hype isnt there as far as power from what i've seen.. the 66mm ones from what I've seen (look like 2-3 months back) was making on par power with a 67..

What 'd that guy with the 60-1 CT end up making, anybody know?

I made ~300rwhp @ 8 psi... this was during the 1JZ's break-in period. However, in my haste, I made the mistake of just reusing the same turbo (which was freshly rebuilt) from when I originally rebuilt my 7M.

It blew a mere month later after being run at 21psi (constant abuse :evil2:) for about a week. I was supposed to dyno that following Saturday.

I've since decided to go with a newly rebuilt 57 trim, so we'll see how it does when I get scheduled back for some quality time on the dyno :biglaugh:

I'm not shooting for more than 400+ for now, so the upgraded ct26 is sufficient.

The turbo you made 300 with, was that on a stock CT one or upgraded? How'd that 21 psi feel?:evil2:

That was on a 60-1 ct26... 300rwhp @ 8 psi. It's a rebuilt, high compression, overbored 1JZ running on the Stinger standalone.

21+ psi is the most I've ever pushed my ct26, on either 7M or 1JZ. Let's just say 20+ psi for me is now the new "stock" boost :evil2:
