I am currently runnin a 88 turbo with a rebuilt 7mgte. When the engine was out I upgraded a few things:Installed AMS I.C., LMS Downpipe, Random Tech Hiflow cat, Greddy catback, HKS FCON, Greddy boost controller and turbo timer, Greddy EGT and boost gauges, and Turbo XS RFL B.V.

Now i want to do a few more changes and was lookin for someinput.

1. I want to upgrade the stock turbo, but i dont know if i want one that bolts up to the stock manifold or to change it all out and what would be needed to do this will i have to change the down pipe or will the new set up bolt directly to the old D.P.

2. I want to get rid of the AFM. I have VPC to instll but not sure if i want to go that route cause i'm thinkin of replacein the FCON

3. Do I replace the fcon and go with somethin else like a SAFC or maybe even a standalone. Also thinkin bout gettin rid of the greddy boost controller and goin with a AVC-R or something that has gear specific boost controlling.

4. I'm plannin on puttin in a walboro fuel pump and some 680 injectors and a new fule pres reg. Any suggestions on a preference or ones to avoid would be appreciated

5. Changin out the I.C. Pipes any suggestions please. also what lines can i get rid of under the hood.

Like I said any help or suggestions will be appreciated

Also you can see a pic of the car at www.lightningmotorsports.com its on the main page sittin on the dyno

Thanks
Shawn

If youre looking to upgrade the turbo, I would suggest going with a 57 trim upgrade from driftmotion, only $510 and it has potential for 400+ hp with supporting mods.

Why 680's? If you are tuning with a Maft Pro you could run the 440's over 400whp with a upgraded CT.
i wouldnt personally run the 440s over 400bph, same with 550s over 500bph. I would like to keep them under 80% max duty cycle

^^^ agreed. How much power are you planning on making? 680's may be a little overkill. You could back them down with a Maft Pro but if your looking for the 450 range 550's should be great for that.

Turbo: 57 trim is pretty popular and pretty dependable. There are 60 trim and 60-1 ct's being made as well. My choice for a bolt on! MDC might still do the 60 turbo's. DM as mentioned does the 57 trim. Turbonetics also has a 60-1 or 62-1 bolt on.(needs oil lines)
Getting a different setup outside of bolt on's will probably run you close to $2500 unless you can pick up some quality used parts. I've done the pricing; Turbo, manifold, Wastegate, oil lines and exhaust work. I don't fab anything so if you have connections or can do it yourself then you can save some $$$.

Injectors: PTE, Lucas, RC's are the most common. NO Venoms!

IC Pipes: I like the cooleze pipes but they are pricey. Universal kit? DM sells the Univ kits.

Good Luck!

I'm wanting to be in the 500hp range.

what bout the boss turbo's from suprasport? i have already noticed alot of guys runnin the 57 trim puttin out some serious horse power. also noticed the were runin the front facing intake manifold. are these produced by anyone or id it a do it ya self?

One more thing is it better to go with a direct fit injector or to replace the fuel rail and stuff?

^^^ Yep, I think any modified bolt on will be at it's limits trying for 500whp. I haven't seen any bolt on's with those numbers anyways. Do you need a FFIM not really. I saw one of the members here put down 580whp with a stock manifold. $500 could be spent on more important mods in my opinion. Put a build thread together, we love pics :biglaugh:
