Unsure about how to deal with a flatmate...

Okay heres the deal.

I live in a flat with two girls and another guy. We all agreed when we moved in that the bills were going to be split equally amongst us.

However, since we've moved in, we've had numerous bills to pay, and so far, me and the other guy have been the only ones paying bills. One of the girls gave us £100 each at xmas time to cover her share of the bills, which is fine, but the other girl in my flat hasnt paid a single bill, or even a share of one, since we moved in.

A month or so ago, the other guy i live with threw a fit when he *still* hadnt been given her share of the water bill (£47 or so) despite being promised again and again and again that she'd pay it. When he confronted her about it, she just slammed her door and refused to pay any attention to him, although she later came storming into his room and threw £40 in his face and stomped off back to her room.

Now we've all known each other for years, however, in the last two years, this particular girl has chopped and changed her friends and lifestyle dramatically, so much so that when i moved in with her, it was like she was a total stranger. She's hiding a WEDGE of bills in her cupboard, all unopened, for credit cards and mobile phone, and she always makes out that she's poor, despite getting £3200+ per year in student loan, and £40 a day from working at Chelsea Football club.

A discussion will go something like this:

'Can you please pay your share of the electric bill this week?'
'Sorry, i dont have any money, i'm reaaaaallly broke.'

And then she'll go out clubbing and spend £20 on getting pissed.

We've already contacted the landlord (who also isnt happy she's been skipping out on rent payments) about her moving out, but unfortunately, its either we all go, or we all stay, as we're on a joint tenancy agreement.

Earlier today, i sent her an email about the money she owes me, and has owed me for the last 4+ months:

Hello Alison.

I'm just sending you an email to remind you about that £50 you still owe me for the phone bill.

You promised to give it to me several times over the last 4 months, then when you got your loan in, and again last week when you promised you were going to the bank, and so far i've seen nothing of it, despite two notes on your cupboard door in the last few days.

As you might imagine, i'm getting more and more annoyed the longer this drags on. Have you got any intention of giving it to me, or am i wasting my time bothering?

Does that sound fair and civil to you guys?

I was also considering cutting off her internet access (wireless) if i dont get it in the next 24 hours, but that seems kinda harsh. I've debated it over and over in my head, but i cant make up my mind....

I'm at the end of my tether with this chick, and i wish i'd never fucking met her. Same goes for the other guy in my flat....advice please!!!

and yes, cut that bitch off.

Maybe she'll stop being such a wanker(if I can borrow your term) if you start taking shit from her that she's not paying for.

send her a link to meatspin disguised as something else.

And start walking around your place naked too. Make her as uncomfortable as can be.

[not to say youre ugly. I don't know what you look like.]

I have considered it, but she always runs to her tosser of a boyfriend or back home to mummy and daddy - feeds them a load of horseshit and by then, it's having to deal with parents that are angry at ME for 'upsetting their little girl' despite her being 21 :/

I know exactly what you're going through Kai, and it sucks ass.

Is there no way you can get someone to move in in her place?

That way you can kick her out, and still not have to move...

the other chick is a friend of hers, although less now than she was when she first moved in...she's too scared of saying anything, as she knows how this girl reacts to criticism - like a 6 year old...

Cant say i blame her for not wanting to step into the crosshairs...

Heh - i have no sister, and while my friend jennie would shout at her for hours, this girls reaction will be one of 'stomp off and behave like a toddler'.

Thats about all i can think of doing aside from giving her a slap, although, if i did, i'd get arrested and charged with assault....cant afford anything more on my already dubious criminal record :/
