Ultimate Turbo for the 7MGTE

Ok all, I think that this has been Discussed before but I really need to get some insite on this as Im in search of my last turbo.

What would be the Ultimate turbo for the Street and Strip on a 7MGTE. I would like to hear all suggestions with a Price tag. Im running a Full T4 setup so I wont need a T3 but for those who are running it, Please include that turbo and price

My Goal is 500rwhp on Pump gas but Spool rather Quickly (ie Less than 4000rpms) I dont have the type of funds that will generate a GT35R or something like that but Im sure there is something that someone is running that will give you everything that you can ask for at a reasonable Price. I was thinking of a 67mm Turbo but heard the lag would be outragous,

So let me hear it please so I canget one and get my sup back on the road. Financing is a option also.

lag on a 67 isn't that bad on a 7m.
i say full boost my 4500rpm, depending on what turbine housing your running.
easily capable of 500rwhp with room to go up to 650-700rwhp depending on mods.

other options are a 61 or even a 57, which both are capable of 500rwhp are should be deadly on the street.

i've read that the 61 and 67 have very similar spooling characteristics, but the 67 just makes more up top

At the moment Im trying to decide between a t4 t61 setup or a boss lipp 66 mm bolt on on my car that is almost driven daily (except rain basicly). So im kinda in the same boat. I just cant decide

67mm for more top end and 600+ hp on race fuel. 4k-4500rpm full spool dependent upon your desired boost level. As mentioned smaller turbos i.e. 57, 61, etc will do 500rwhp easily with a tad faster full spool, but will have a quick broader powerband, some may disagree but for those who have 67mm and bigger, when those suckers spool up they take off!!! Good luck...

After putting on the t70 im thinking lag is relative to the user. I see full boost at 4200 the 67 is probly better this is with a cast manifold. It also helps with traction as i was sick of spinning tires now it just pulls

The other factor to take into account is even if they're laggier they're moving MORE air at lower pressures so will still make great power even when not fully spooled.

I know the 3540 at 3 psi gives the car brilliant overtaking acceleration ;)

500rw on pump gas is going to mean a 64-67mm turbo. none of those are going to hit full boost under 4k rpm, but they will be making boost at that point. best deal i have going is the 67dbb which will make the power and help with spool. but sounds like even at 1149 range its more than you want to spend.

lag will also be effected by turbine wheel, turbine housing, and the rest of your setup.

agreed.

there is no perfect turbo, you'll always have to make concessions. limiting your budget really limits your options....then again, you have to pay to play.

I havn't seen any quick spooling turbo hit 500rwhp on a 7M on regular pump (without methonal).

If you want good spool and decent power, you will have to spend the money on a newer design turbo like a GT35. Then you will have to spend more money on supporting mods like headwork and cams to allow the car to breath better at lower boost. Then good engine management will let you get dialed in to a good tune on pump gas. Good luck, but you gotta pay to play.

LMAO I came in here to post the same damn thing. PTE 67-76 DBB is a QUICK spoolin mother, and DAMN does that thing come on hard...well, at least it does in an 86 Buick T-Type that runs 8.80's *giggle*

My dad runs a turbonetics 67mm BB with the F1 fins q-trim on his 87 Grand National and that thing is BALLS fast. He's layin down around 600rwhp with alcohol, 72# injectors, FAST XFI standalone, etc...

****side note--he experienced his first BHG this weekend at the track, on his first pass he ran a 12.58 @ 102.7 after he blew the HG at around 2/3 track or so.****

I say a 61 mm turbo. It will spool under 4000 rpm full boost and give you the power you want on pump gas. (This was my old set-up > 61)

You can buy the RH C7 used for around 700 IIRC. > 11.00@130 on this turbo also.

Yeah, I understand that you have to pay to Play but the Military doesnt pay enough for me to Spend $12-$1400 on one single turbo so that is why I decided to ask. There are tons of Options Im sure and I have the Supporting Mods...ie 720cc Injectors, Head completely worked, .040 Forged Pistons, MKIV TT Fuel Pump etc etc. I think my only hold back is that Im running a VPC/SAFC combo so If I can find a good turbo that will supply my needs then I have no Problem Paying the cash.

I make full boost by 3400-3500 on a DBB t66 turbonetics. The car begins to pull hard right around 3000, and I see 1 psi positive pressure right about 2700rpm in third gear. (and for first gear, antilag/two step helps a lot.) Also makes 500 on pump gas around 15 psi.
