Cross posted from SF. The "other" Supra(s) :biglaugh: attendance was great last year with people and cars attending from all across the country. Looks as though the drag racing classes will be the same as last year. Also, there are only 45 spots available for the road racing. Start making plans if you haven't already. :icon_cool

OK ladies and gentlemen, it's once again about that time to start planning the meet. Last year's attendance was outstanding and I have no reason to believe it will be any different this coming year.

The official date for TX2K7 - Supra Nationals by MVP is March 15 – March 18, 2007.

Thanks to Dusty and MVP Motorsports (www.mvpmotorsports.com) for being the primary sponsor of this event for the 8th year in a row, we couldn't have this meet if it wasn't for you Dusty, thanks!

Now, onto the details:

Thursday – Road Racing (Driver's Education) – like always, this event will be held on Thursday, primarily because it’s cheaper to do a track day during the week rather than during a weekend. The track day will be at the same facility as last year - MSR Houston (www.msrhouston.com). This track boasts a challenging 2.4 mile course and it's only a 50 minute drive from the host hotel. Most of the drive allows for some very spirited driving!

Just like the years past, we will have the same format that will include some sort of breakdown between beginners and advanced drivers. If you have more than 3-4 road race events under your belt and feel comfortable being at a new track in your car with no instructor (or if you ran MSR last year and feel comfortable running with the Advanced group), then please sign up for advanced. If you feel like you may need some direction, then don't hesitate to sign up for beginner. Remember, if your instructor feels like you are capable of running without instruction, he will release you to the advanced group before the end of the day. Like always, if you are interested in road racing at MSR, please send payment for $220 made payable to me.

Friday – Dyno Day – we plan to dyno at Racing Solutions, Inc. (www.racingsolutionsinc.com). This is the same facility as last year. They are located approximately 10 minutes from the host hotel. There will be plenty of parking for all big rigs, cars, etc… and their physical layout is VERY conducive to a dyno day (as you may recall from last year).

The format of the dyno day will be the same as last year. I will show up at the dyno facility at 8:00 am on Friday morning. I will have with me a "sign-up" list that will be "first come first serve." Of course the sponsors will have the ability to get some pre-reserved spots, but otherwise, it'll be simple: first come first serve. NO COST WHATSOEVER, DYNO FOR FREE AS LONG AS YOU GET THEIR EARLY ENOUGH TO SIGN UP

The first car will hit the dyno at 9:00 am and we will dyno a car every 20 minutes starting at 9:00 am. We will break for lunch from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm and then resume dyno'ing cars until 5:00 pm.

Saturday – Show N' Shine, 60-130 MPH and Drag Racing – The show-n-shine event will start at RSI at 10 am. The show-n-shine will last through lunch and will officially be over at 2 pm.

One of the biggest complaints we hear from drag racers is that they only race at the track b/c it's a controlled and safe environment. One of the biggest complaints we hear from street racers is that their cars are not set-up to be drag cars. So we came up with a compromise... How about we do a "street type" race at the track???? As many of you may know, the www.6speedonline.com/forums community measures/tracks/posts their 60-130 mph times like the other car communities measure and track 1/4 mile times. In addition, many magazines (Motor Trend, Car & Driver, Road & Track, etc...) publish high HP 60-130 mph for high HP cars that have trouble gaining traction on street tires (Saleen S7 TT, Enzo, Carrera GT, etc...). Having said all of that here is when/how it will all work.

When: Saturday March 17, 2007 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm (this event will be combined with the Show-N-Shine event which will move locations from RSI

Where: Lonestar Motorsports Park (same place as the Saturday night drag session as well as the Sunday TX2K7 drag event). www.lonestarmotorsportspark.com

How: The cars will line up on the return road for the drag strip one at a time. The LMP track has a banked turn at the end of the 1/4 mile and the cars will gain speed along that banked turn (this turn can be taken at 50+ mph on slicks). As the cars enter the end of the drag strip (going backwards towards the finish line) they will position the car and floor it until around 135 mph. At that point, the cars will slow and come to a complete stop at the head of the track where an official TX2K7 worker will record their time.

Measuring Instrumentation: www.driftbox.com - a GPS based device slightly larger than a Valentine One that suction cups to your windshield. This device is similar to what magazines use to record their times. If you are interested in buying one prior to the event please email me at pblach@att.net They retail for $700 but I can get them to you prior the event for $650.

Cost: $50 will get you an UNLIMITED number of runs. You can theoretically line up over and over and over again for 5 hours and get official timed 60-130 mph times.

Classes:

Class 1: Street tires, no sedans
Class 2: Drag Radials, no sedans
Class 3: Any tire, only sedans
Class 4: Trucks
Class 5: UNLIMITED - anything goes

Prizes: This depends on how many ppl sign up. There will be trophies for the quickest in each class. In addition, we will have a small payout IF there is a good turnout.

One major change that we are making to the schedule this coming year is adding more drag strip time to the schedule. This years drag racing will be held at Lonestar Motorsports Park www.lonestarmotorsportspark.com. This venue is only 45 minutes from the host hotel (as opposed to 2.5 hours for SAR) and the new owner, John Hennessey, has graciously offered to give the TX2K7 participants VIP lanes so as to get as many runs as possible on Saturday night. The schedule for Saturday night will be:

4 pm gates open
5 pm track goes hot
Supra event cars will get "priority lane" to get through any potential traffic quicker

Price: $10 for spectators and $20 for tech card to test-n-tune

Sunday – Drag Day – As stated up above, this year we will be racing at Lonestar Motorsports Park. The format will be similar to the years past and the classes will only have slight changes.

MKIV Class 1 - stock twins only, no NOS

MKIV Class 2 - this is the one - power adder class. In other words it'll consist of stock twin cars with NOS, automatic single turbo cars with no NOS, and 6-speed single turbo cars with no NOS.

MK1 - MK3 MODIFIED CLASS
-ct26 or upgraded ct allowed
-1js with factory twins allowed
-factory 5sp or toyota auto allowed (no stall speeds allowed)
-any DOT tire allowed no slicks
-no nitrous unless N/A
-any fuel/ic/exhaust allowed (no open downpipes)
-must be stock computer/piggybacks.

MK1 - MK3 SUPER MODIFIED CLASS
-7M or 1JZ allowed (2JZ cars run in the MKIV classes)
-any turbo allowed
-nitrous allowed
-slicks allowed (no tub jobs though, fender rolling ok)
-any tranny allowed
-open DP allowed
-standalones allowed

UNLIMITED - same as always - no air shifted transmissions (i.e. lenko's), no full tubs allowed (although body kits like the TRD Toyota body kit are ok), no alchohol allowed (must run gasoline, although alchohol injection is ok), IRS required and any tire that fits under the stock body work is ok (only exception is no W tires allowed).

6-Speed Challenge - Cost to enter this class is $100 payable to me at the gate when you get to LMP. The winner will get 75% of the pot and the runner-up will get 25% of the pot (i.e. if there are 8 cars entered, the winner will get $600 and the runner-up will get $200). The only rule is that you must run a 6-speed transmission, no automatics allowed.

EXHIBITION - this class is newly formed for 2007 to accomodate those race cars that do not fit into any of the above mentioned classes.

ET Goal - 7.50
MPH Goal - 195 mph

I will PERSONALLY pay $500 to the car/driver that hits one of those first. Meaning, if a car goes 195 first or 7.50 first, I will pay them $500. I'm sure as time goes by, others will offer to put some $$$ into that as well. I will talking with the racers to see what "goals" I should set for this exhibition class.

Of course, just like always, NON Supras and Vipers will be invited to participate in the event. There will be open track time for EVERYONE to get plenty of runs in. Please invite your friends, no matter what cars they have!!!

Track all ours all day
9 am gates open
10 am track goes hot
5pm end of event

I will post hour by hour schedule shortly here...

LMP will have a test-n-tune that night after our event, so if ANYONE that ran during the Supra event would like to stay and run after the official TX2K7 portion is over, they are welcome to. This only applies to those that have paid the full fee to be there all day with tech card.

Price: the goal here is to increase the payouts in ALL classes and prices will be up slightly.

Spectators: $20
Racers: $80

Sticker Sponsors - like last year we will have sticker sponsors. This year the main sticker sponsor will be MVP. You will get one MVP sticker on ONE SIDE of your car if you participate as well as a sticker for each individual event sponsor. We currently do not have a road racing sticker sponsor but we're working on it and I will update this thread when the spot is filled. The co-sticker sponsor for the dyno day is SupraStore.com and the co-sticker sponsor for the drag racing is Titan Motorsports.

Well thats crap! No higher stall converter allowed? Does this mean that all five speed cars must run the factory flywheel and clutch then too?

Yeah, you know what really bothers me. No one from the adm. of the event posted a thread on this web site asking our opinion, or asking for our input on the Mk3 class rules for the event. Several post on Supraforums about it, but not here?!? What we don't count?

Hey guys... don't forget about the Road Course. Peter needs more people to sign up by the end of this month or he will be forced to cancel the track. With all the street racers we have driving MkIIIs (risking your lives and the lives of other drivers around you) there should be more people jumping on this.

If you've never driven on a dedicated track before then you MUST do this! But be warned. It is addictive. Imagine doing lap after lap as fast as you feel comfortable pushing your Supra - with no fear of the red/blue sneaking up behind you or that little old lady pulling out in front of you.

I have taken my Supra out on a track a few times for a "Parade" lap (we hit 130mph on the back straights) and I got to drive a Z06 on a track at full speed. WOW!

Get over there and get signed up. You won't regret it!
