Jay - You won't have a problem against a C6 ;)

A Z06 is a different story...the '07 version is a 500 HP car from the factory. The torque that V8 puts out is what really kills a Mk III off the line...almost impossible to recover from too. About your only chance is on the hi-way as stated above...even then it's going to be a tough run. That is unless you happen to be in Duane's or IJ's car ;)

Actually, The 500 Horses at the crank is rated VERRRRY conservatively.

In a past issue of Hot Rod, They Removed 2 LS7's from two Z06's with under 1000 miles and put them on a crank Dyno.

One did 553 Horse and the other did 56* horse if I remember right.

Thoes engines are insane. Mind you, both were stock.

Yep...the only time I've been to the track I made two runs. 1st was against an '07 Z06...I was a little slow off the line, but still ran a 12.2 iirc. He beat me by over a full second...he was all stock. :3d_frown:

Second run was against a '06 Mustang GT w/ minor mods (intake/exhaust). Did a better run at 11.87 and took him by well over a full car length...that was with him getting a half length on me at launch (my launches suck). That run made me feel better though ;)

Thats nice awesome! What did the Mustang run?

I raced a new GT and took him by around 2 cars, but He was totally stock. He is building the car now. Not excited to race him again.

So if you took the Mustang by a car, Did he run a 12? 13?

The Mustang ran a 12.4 iirc...he was a better driver. His 60' time was better than mine by a tenth...he was a manual tranny too. I got him when I got full turbo spool and my auto kept it there ;)

The Z06 just kicked my ass (like a red headed stepchild)...he ran just under 11 sec.

Both were good races though...after my 2nd run, the coordinator came over and told me I needed a helmet. One of the track rules for under 12 sec cars. :naughty:

Yeah, I'm pretty sure if I ran at the track, I would be put to shame by most cars I toy with on the freeway. I lack launching skill, and thats almost the whole race there.

I think I need to be de-virginized drag wise.

Yep...the launch is an acquired skill, you have to practice ;)
Especially for a fat ass car like the Mk III...take her out to see what she'll do under controlled conditions.

I've learned to ID a Z06...run them only if you want to see what they can do (at least for most of us). That car is very impressive for a factory sports car.

Jay - sorry bout the hijkack, but since we were talking about vettes....
;)

New Official Corvette race thread ;)

I have only raced my friend's C4 Vette, An 89 I think? Light blue as well.

We wanted to see which light blue was fastest, We did it on his mile long driveway, I took him out pretty quick, But we all know that C4 Corvettes arn't the fastest buggers nowadays.

I have never gone up against a C5, and I don't plan too, The one car I did take down with an LS1, a Trans Am WS6(Closest race ever) was too scary, and in a Car thats lighter(Corvette) would probably EASILY taken me.

Since we're talking about corvettes..................

I raced my brothers C5 tonight. It's not stock, but he's only got two minor things done to it. We raced from a redlight coming out of Jasper and he raped me without any lube at all.......................it was embarrassing. The only reason I even tried is because I love him. I shifted into second and when the turbo spooled up, I just spun. He was almost a block ahead of me. I quit at 110 mph, and he quit at 147 mph. We then raced again from about a 50mph roll (speedometer isn't working, but my new one arrives tomorrow.) I was in third this time. I honked three times and he nailed the honk perfectly. I was a car length down quick, but when the GT35r kicked in, it was ugly quick. I put two car lengths on him in third and went to fourth and was pulling on him pretty easily. I let out again at about 115-120 since I have a family and so does he. We were coming home from our softball game and we had the highway to ourselves for about five miles.
Don't worry about hijacking the thread. I love to hear about killz, no matter where there at. Keep it between the ditches.

Jay, nice kill on the roll, work on the launches though, feather the pedal and see how it works for you ;).

John, good kill on the track. Damn auto's putting us 5spd's to shame with those ET's of yours ;).

I have some DR's Joe, but there on a different set of wheels that I put on to go to the track with. I could put them on my wheels and drive around with them all the time. I may do that this weekend. I've set a trap, so I'm hoping to get some more races................:evil2:

I let a black Cobalt SS outrun me yesterday. I was barely over half throttle and then decided to let him pass me. Now, he'll be telling all of his buddies how slow my car is. They've got a rude awakening ahead of them if they get the nerve to try me..................:biglaugh:

When I get too old to race, I'll give it up, but I don't see that day coming any time soon. When I get where I can't afford a speeding ticket then I'll definately quit..................:icon_bigg
