20 psi on what?

the ct26?

if that is the case all that is pushing out is super heated air anyway. You could have had C16 in there. it still would have detonated no thanks n part to the pea shooter going way above its working zone.

Broken ringlands. Same thing happened to me when I missed a gear and over revved while at the dragstrip. Only I wasn't running cat pee for gasoline.::hah::

OP, you have no business with this car if you can't run the proper fuel. Blaming the pistons is about the most ignorant statement I've EVER heard.

So much truth above.^^^^

On a side note "Winter Blend Fuel" gives you less mileage or it has less energy. It makes me wonder if that just makes matters worse when using low octane fuel.

You get worse mileage in the winter because colder air is more dense than hot, requiring more fuel burned per unit volume.

Also, at only $0.20 more per gallon, wtf are you thinking? Thats $3 more per tank. That savings looks pretty good now, hey?

Manual boost controllers are shit quite frankly, you'd have been better off keeping stock boost if moneys tight.

Depends on the controller, mine has been very reliable. Mine also defaults to wastegate spring if it comes apart though.......

wow, spend all that money on mods, and can't spend an extra $5 to fill with 93.
and if you MUST use 87 dont boost at all.

57 trim at that... on 87....

Sorry man, but that's one of those things that makes me stop and go: "Do you really understand how it all works?"

Good luck with the rebuild.

why's that?
i doubt i'd ever change my mind, i've used 93 since day 1 on all my turbo cars.

Cause 93 doesn't exist up here....Last place I saw 93 was in Kansas on my way from buying the sup in Tennessee :(
unleaded: 85
mid: 87
premium: 91

but my car has never seen less than 91.

even if you were only boosting 14psi.. anything less than 93 should be an obvious NO. either way that really sucks that happened.. get her fixed and back on the road, maybe get a better boost controller and keep 93 in it ;)

now this does suck but did it feel awesome right before the boom?:icon_bigg

It always feels awesome before the boom :D

I had a sim sit, lost the wastgate line, whole car pitched sidways, slammed into boost cut but I was on 93 with a good tune so it only leaned out to 12.2:1 even with the spike. That was an interesting log to look over lol.

good luck with the rebuild hope you have at least learned something

that is likely due to your altitude.

motor requires less octane with lower air density.

Now cheaping out on a decent boost controller...well, I guess now you know, stick with EBC's.

Having personally seen every time I drive just how much boost fluctuates with temperature change alone, i will NEVER run a manual controller...EVER.

EDIT: didn't see that 'jk'. Ill keep my comment in place for others though :)

My Dr. Jonez manual controller works just fine. I'm sure I'll upgrade to an EBC whenever I get the boost up past 12 though.

They work, but one treatment only raises the octane 1 point. Meaning 1/10th of an octane.

the nos shit says it adds up to 3 points with 1 bottle/16gal. i have a bottle just never used it.
