does anyone know the reaction of an NA MKIII ecu if it has an increased air flow reading.

thanks::dead horse::

Are you referring to something like the AFM mod on a 7MGE? If so, then IMO all it really does is consume more fuel due to running richer.

Just drop in a gte it would be faster. :burnout:

unless you dont care and want to run higher compression with lower boost and get relatively the same power.....................GTE swap im half way to full turbo and it sucks. should have gone with my original plans damn it:3d_frown:

Ok! I understand your point; higher compresion equates to more power. Thats obvious. Guess I should have worded it, a swap is easier and faster time wise. I wanted to do an NA-T when I had my old 87 but after reading up, as you say, I found it would be easier and cheaper to just drop in a gte.

Sorry for my poor wording. :slap: continue.

How about a big turbo on a well built GE with GE electronics, supporting fuel mods, and MaftPro? Too bad high grade gas is so expensive....

Has anyone on here done an all out turbo on a GE motor? Or even a half-assed one for that matter?

Seems like those that do the huge builds would want to take advantage of the higher compression on the GE. :dunno:

I think wat he is saying is wat would happened if you just drop a turbo in an NA. Wat would the ECU react to the more flow of air. Damn, it would run....like shit?

hmmm... Actually I think there are some around. You might want to check the n/a section on supraforums. I'm pretty sure you would need some sort of piggy back air/fuel controller at the least.

Let say i drop a CT-26 and GTE oil pan for the turbo oil line, add a turbo ECU. Staying with GE electronics, how would the car run. Would it atleast start up and be running?

Start? Probably. But I doubt it would start and run. Remember the type of air metering the GE uses. That door can only open SO FAR, plus the POS VAFM isn't accurate ANYWAY. If you yank that door open with a turbo, you can throw your fuel mixture right out the window. Now you need a piggyback or AFC...

I could go on, but I said I wouldn't spoon feed. Gotta shut up now. :sarcasm:

Everything I know has been collected mostly from 2 places.

1. My education in automotive technology (which was EXPENSIVE, to say the least)
2. This forum.

Mostly the latter. I try and encourage SEARCHING. I guarantee SOMEONE on this board has either done it before or is doing it now.

having done almost every combination of n/a-t.
i have done
7mge-t with n/a elcetonics-just wont last, a/f's are just to crazy. insane torque curve(way to much timming) NOTE: i didnt use any piggy back, with maft-pro it may be better but still to flakey for me

7mge-t with turbo elcetronics- it works, fast spool
7mgte swap-just how it should be, cheaper in the long run

just swap the engine.

if your going to do it half ass, atleast do the turbo electronics.

i have a working n/a-t 10:1 CR, mhg and arp,upgraded ct, 440 injectors, 3" exhaust, COP.

i also have a fully built 7mgte

sure the n/a-t is fun but its a ticking time bomb

What do you mean by all out turbo? My brother has had his NA-T (gte electronics/na motor/stock hg arps) for 3 years now and it runs strong.

Anyways, search around. This information is covered in the sticky (sort of).
