Technically in GA our helmet law doesnt say you have to wear a helmet..it just says "protective head gear" or something like that.
I would still wear a helmet if i had a bike tho. Let him die if he wants.

The protective head gear has to be D.O.T. approved. Im sure a hadji hat is not D.O.T. approved.

You know what?

The real hot pan of oil thrown in the face is....

"Separation of church and state."

So now I can claim that its my religious right to kill myself by not wearing a seatbelt or helmet.

(I really do think it should ones choice - not the governments)

And if its against my religion, and its religion VS state, I should win right?

im sorry. i am a jackass, didnt mean to offend someone. i am not informed of most religions and/or there characteristics. i was just trying to make a point that if he puts his religion above his own well being then whatever happens, good or bad, he is basicly asking for it. you can call it faith or whatever you want but its just an over all stupid decision in my book. again sorry for my ignorance

This is so easy it's remarkable nobody has figured it out yet.

1. Repeal the helmet laws. For EVERYONE, I don't give a shit what your religion is.
2. Deny anyone who gets in an accident without a helmet any health insurance coverage. If they can't afford the bills, they die - but they don't affect the rest of the system with their stupidity.
3. Profit.

Thats just about what every reply to the article said.

They did this in BC a while back. Stupid. You know, we are bending so many laws, and changing them around, its not even funny. If we dont, "racism!" is shouted from the roof tops. I dont see why we cant just stand up for ourselves and say "NO, this is the law, you live here, obey the laws that we have in place"

I saw a truck driver drive his truck into a ditch. Commercial vehicle inspection shows up to do an investiagtion. As they are starting the truck driver claims "this is racism" and they pack up their shit and leave.

Touchy subject for me, obviously. Bottem line is i think it is wrong. I agree with Dave (grimjack)

Oh Ontario....

My main problem with this is...Even if they allowed it(which is ridiculous, in my opinion...The highway traffic act is there for a reason), if he gets into a life-altering accident, guess who picks up the tab for his medical bills? THE PUBLIC

I don't care if he wants to practice his religion so leave the turban itself out of this, but for fucks sake, you would think that common sense would prevail for once...If a judge rules in his favor, I'll just laugh...Hopefully he dies from head injuries, seriously. It's his own stupidity and his family can foot the funeral bill rather than me foot the medical.

J3: I figured this was the case and had a word with Push about it.

His response was a kneejerk reaction and not acceptable but I'm glad it's just an easily sorted misunderstanding.

Either let him Ride without it beacuse its his ass on the line or take his ability to ride away. Its not a religious debate I could care less eitherway. NOT WEARING A HELMET IS JUST STUPID end of story if he cant figure it out its his problem.

He should just buy a car everybody knows you can get more I.E.D's into a Volvo than on a bike.

You have to understand the political landscaping and demographic issues in Ontario moreso than any other province/state on the continent, in my opinion - Because both are quite key in this(Brampton, the city that he is from is LARGELY a sikh population...We have about 500k people now and I reckon that half are sikhs, easily) and why it is a religious debate as well...In that religion should not be able to be used as a double standard. As some know, the Ontario gov't is banning the use of the lord's prayer in Parliament - So they do that, then turn around and let a sikh disobey the law because of his religion? And there, you have religious debates.

And it's easy enough to say let him ride without it - But we have a public healthcare system here. He'll be covered no matter what, and that money comes out of MY pocket. Tell you what, I'd rather just deport the ungrateful bastard to be honest. He comes here from his original country, we accept him with (too) open arms and this is the kind of shit he starts demanding? Ridiculous, if you ask me.

And I know there are quite a bit of people from the states up there for that exact reason. Im not going to say anything about how your country is run beacuse you dont throw stones if you live in a glass house. :icon_bigg

if anyone is interested there are plenty of similar cases in the states that would rule in favor of the government because the law isnt designed against his religion therefore it is not denying him freedom of religion. especially after what push said heh he can just put his hair in a helmet and be fine w/ it tied

A pretty strong religion if you ask me. But they need to make helmets for turbans.

In India they all wear turbans and ride from what i see with the woman sitting sideways in the back.

hahahahaa

At the same time, there are similar cases in other provinces in this country that have ruled in favor of the individual. Apparently, we are aren't a tolerant people and are in fact, racist if we don't do the politically correct thing.

last i new it was a privledge not a right to drive and there are laws you must abide to.. to have that privledge

That's a double edged sword...I believe it is a right to drive/ride. Suggesting otherwise would put the gov't in total control of what you do and don't do...And let's be honest - We don't elect the government. I don't care what anybody says...we don't.
However, certain laws have to be followed - "the laws of the land", if you will. Everybody else does, in this case. Before getting an M1(learners license for a bike in Ontario), you fully know that you HAVE to wear a helmet. This is in no way a violation of his charter of rights...It's a safety issue and a possible burden on tax dollars which is why it shouldn't be given the slightest bit of consideration

Nah, he should be able to have insurance, but pay a huge premium for it. Much like if you smoke, ect...

Public health care and private auto insurance are in no way, shape or form linked up here..

Fuck it, let him crash and die on impact. It will cost less then patching him up. Just get the FD there to hose the area down.
