ok i have a quick question. car i bought was said to have a seized engine. heres the thing it has a perfect service record and a transmission that was rebuilt 500 miles prior to it seizing up. i put a breaker bar on the crank and it will not budge, but when i crank it all i get is a hum. the oil level was fine when i got it and he said he never added any extra.

is it possible that after the transmission being rebuild something was put together wrong and made the flywheel bind or possibly transmission to lock up (dont think possible though) causing it not to crank?

i googled it and someone had the same situation and it was a single washer when rebuilding a auto trans. :1zhelp:

Push in the clutch and try to turn over the motor. if still doesn't turn then push in the clutch and roll the car.

If the transmission is locked up the motor will turn with the clutch depressed. If the motor is locked up then the car will roll only with the clutch depressed.

If the car doesn't roll with the clutch depressed and the motor doesn't turn with the clutch depressed then the clutch is broken and isn't releasing so thats the first fix.

autos dont have flywheels :D:D:D

check the inspection cover if you think something is getting caught.

when i killed my auto my engine still started and ran fine. the input/output shafts on the trans would not budge at all. (trans shouldnt affect the engine starting at all unless there is something wrong with your torque converter or something is physically jammed in the flexplate.. ive seen it with starters but doesnt seem like your problem as it should make a nasty noise if you try to start if i am correct...)

best bet is to pull the combo, sounds like you have a almost new trans there and just need to figure out getting a different engine.
