OK guys, my car is really starting to piss me off. I was on my way to work today and the car is driving fine, I get to a stop light and put in first and it pops out of gear. So I shift to 2nd, and it starts grinding, I swap to third, and it's grinding really bad. So I shift to 4th and it's fine. I get on the highway and shift to 5th and it doesn't grind all that much.

I get to work and put it in reverse and it's fine, I put it in 2nd and it's fine other than grinding. I then put it in 1st and pops out, 3rd and it pops out. So I just park it and go inside.

When I get out of work I had my wife meet me to make sure that I'm ok trying to drive it home. On the way home, I can't get into 1st or 3rd without popping right out, and 2nd stays in gear just grinds. Now when I get to 5th it starts grinding. So I downshift to 4th and cruise home, for the most part.

It seems that every time that my shifter is in one of the top forward gears, 1,3,5 it pops out and grinds, now when the shifter is down in 2nd, 4th and reverse it seems to be ok other than the grinding in second.

I need some help and fast guys.

Thanks

Clutch pedal adjustment would be my first guess as it's effecting most of the gears.

That, and pop the inspection covers off and make sure everything is alright in there...

Yes, but why would the pedal adjustment just now start doing this?? I haven't touched it and it was all of a sudden.

I pulled the inspection plates off and it seemed as the clutch looked fine.

I was thinking that it might be something to do with the throttle linkage inside the tranny like a shift fork or something???

did you run it without oil??

It has plenty of oil. I'm always checking under my car because it does leak a little motor oil from time to time. I haven't smelt any burning or noticed that it was leaking at all.

Ryan, I have a known good R154 if you find yourself in a bind. Let me know.

I was just talking with Ben about this problem and he told me to give you a call. I think my tranny is gone!

Wouldn't have happened just driving it IMHO...

Unless he forgot the part about just beating on the car it's more than likely an issue with the clutch not fully being disengadged...

4th isn't actually a gear it just locks the Input shaft to the Mainshaft.

I'm guessing bent shift forks.

That's what I am thinking too. Because it happened so suddenly and it's every gear.

I'm pulling it tomorrow, and will know for sure. I hope that I get another tranny or can fix this one pretty fast.

The tranny that I got sat for 2 years before I put it in and it came out of an 88 with 150k miles on it. It was a broken shift fork. I took it out yesterday and installed and one I got from GOT TURBOS.

I don't just beat on the car either, I baby this thing as much as I can, but I do take it the track every now and then, I have only been once this year, and I mainly do highway pulls, but have only done a couple in the last 3 months. I drive my car just fine!! When was the last time I saw you in person? What 2+ years ago.... HTF would you know how I drive the supra? I've invited you out to join the rest of us in DFW and have meets and you never reply back or show up..........

No no, not calling you an idiot or a lier

Sorry man, I'm a bit anti-social right now. My point was you don't just get bent shift forks. Something is messed up somewhere.

Do you have a short shifter?

bent forks? You guys sure about that? We are talking bending the crap out of forged forks.

Syncros, shot to hell.

I was just looking at it, and it actually was not bent, it looks bent but has a hair line fracture and it is cracked and that is where it started to come apart.
