OK guys, I have run into a problem once again with my tranny. Well ever since I got my new clutch and resurfaced the flywheel, it has been hard getting into first and second. But before I changed the clutch, it shifted perfectly fine. When I got back from the track it was ok, but when I tried to go into first gear it wouldn't let me, so I tried all the other gears and it wouldn't let me either. It would let me go into reverse hardly. But when I got it into reverse and rolled the car back a little it went into all the other gears just fine.

Oh yeah, this time around installing the new clutch, I installed Redline MT90, and so far hate it.

One thing that I have noticed, is that when I park my car in my driveway, it's on a little slope and my car clunks like it's the rear end having slack or something??? I'm thinking that it has something to do with that and my carrier bearing being bad. So my driveline after the tranny has some slack. Whatcha think guys?

Sounds like your clutch is out of adjustment (not disengaging enough).
Fix that.

Also sounds like your diff is showing its true age.
Would be wise to repair that as well.

I'm going to swap out the oil for some stuff that has always worked for me in the past and adjust the clutch pedal and then take it for a spin and see what it does.

Would a bad tranny mount do this?

With all due respect don't be a douche....leave the redline in there...oil isn't the problem here...

The problem is a noob who doesn't have a clue about clutch workings, transmission issues, and someone who is dumb enough to blame transmission problems on "oil" after drag Raceing on a 20 year old trans with a hack job clutch install!!! Not to mention you probably shift like a retard trying to hump a door knob! Your comment on oil was stupid...makes me think you're stupid!

Do what you want...even if it's retarded but don't expect us to hold your balls while you fuck your car.

Seriously!! Fuck you!! I was just saying that I have used other oils in the past that have seemed to work better. I have contacted many people here Where I live and they all tell me not to use Redline!! MVP, Dynosaur, Christian (local guy that has about 8 MK3's at his shop at all times working on them),2 toyota techs, that both have supras, Trent mod on SF, and several others told me not to use it. And why wouldn't I want to believe these guys? That is all. I wasn't bashing any one or the oil. Just saying that I was going to try something different. Because It started shifting wierd once I put in the fluid and that was the only change.

I think that the other problem is just peddle adjustment which I'm going to do today. I can take my tranny out and replace the clutch with my car on jack stands with no power tools in 4 hours. I have a good clutch and flywheel and do everything per TSRM!!! I put in a new Master Clutch Cylinder, new slave, new clutch line, new fluid, new shift fork, resurfaced flywheel, new clutch disc and pressure plate, new pilot and release bearings, then Reline MT90.

So Shut the fuck up and go home!! Do you have a car with 400+rwhp and running mid-low 12's?? It also maybe because of these big ass tires I now have that could've caused the problem.

I have been racing this car at the track for since 2000. So I would think that I would know what I'm doing especially since some of my best friends are toyota techs that help me out as well.

Wow, really intelligent. A lot of assumptions in there as well. We're all now aware of who the douche is. The noob comment actually made me laugh.

Ryan, my carrier bearing is bad and I often have that same clunking you speak of. I also have some intermittent vibration while accelerating/decelerating. I'm looking to replace mine after TX2K9. The rest, well...I have an auto so couldn't tell ya. ;)

Thanks Ken, I'm going to try and replace that before TX! I need to find this problem first.

I haven't changed the oil yet but I did adjust the clutch and it do anything. I'm going to put it up on some jack stands in a little bit to pull off the inspection plates and see if I can see anything.

OK UPDATE!!

I jacked the car up and took off the inspection plates, slave and shift fork and everything looks fine, clutch bolts, and release bearing are in good shape! I did notice that My tranny mount is absolutely gone! I can move the tranny up and down at least an 1". I drained the fluid and checked everything with a magnet and it is clean. I don't know what else to check for.

When driving to drop my son off this morning my tranny was shifting fine, until I came to a stop. Once I came to a stop though the shifter would look like it would go down a little bit and I couldn't get it into gear unless I turned off the Motor. Now when I started driving again it seemed like it raised up a little bit and would shift fine until I came to a stop.

Thoughts?

mine does not move at all.

Whatever you say!

I advise you check again...every supra trans can move up and down about an inch...you gotta push pretty hard but it will move....unless you have solid motor mounts then it will not move much.

Ps...the motor and trans are mounted on rubber...how would it not move...and before you argue go out and push up on your tail housing and look at the octagon nut looking thing in the trans mount...it moves

I have 1 solid and 1 regular motor mount and it doesn't move much at all, but that tranny mount is really gone! When we drove it after we put it all back together we could see the shifter move! But when driving the car it was fine, and shifted normally! Until you came to a stop.

When I was down there I also took out the clutch bolts and looked at everything and it was all fine, flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate and flywheel bolts all looked fine.

Let's say the mount is shot "which I doubt"...this still "shouldn't" effect shifting as the shifter is bolted to the trans and not the car body...sounds to me like your syncros are going.

That's my guess...but the trans is supposed to be able to rock around a little. And why are you running only one solid mount???

Old domestic trick as one motor mount is being compressed, the other is being torn apart, that's the one you make solid. Cuts down on vibration.

Do you have the large hex bolt that acts as a stop going through the tranny mount still? If so it's not going to move enough to cause issues...

Is the tranny used?

When I drive the car, the shifting is fine! It works great actually even when I get on it and do some pulls. I have noticed that the shifter since going to the track has been moving more than normal and not like bouncing around, but where you can tell the entire tranny is moving. The Rubber from the mount is pretty much mush and gone, it is coming through where the hex bolt is. On the back of the mount the rubber is messed up as well. It's almost like it got torqued to much and broke some how.

Yes Poodles hit it on the nose, that is why I have a solid and regular mount. Cuts down on the vibrations a lot when doing hard pulls! I would go through a set of stock mounts every 3 months. But that's what you get when you have over 400rwhp and tq and crappy stock mounts.
