Me and kyle are sitting here trying to figure out how to take out the throw out bearing off the houseing. I might as well ask how to take off the pilot bearing.

Pilot bearing: Find something solid that fits the I.D. of the bearing perfectly. Pack the inside of the bearing with grease until you can't fit any more in there. Take the instrument you chose that fits the ID of the bearing, and insert it into the center. Hammer it in and watch the bearing get pushed out by the displacement of grease. Remove instrument, re-pack with grease to make up for lost volume due to bearing coming out, repeat.

Throw out bearing: Quit being a cheapass and buy a pair of snap-ring pliers. Trust me, it's so much easier than fucking with eight screwdrivers, two pairs of pliers, and two people. Plus the hazard of getting that fucking snap ring shot into your skull is far less probable.

have fun, boris. i wish you and kyle the best of luck.

::edit:: you fail at thread titling, btw.

Oh man that snap ring is a BITCH. I did it myself, took me about an hour just to put the ring back on. Invest in snap-ring pliers!

If it wasn't already obvious, there's a BIG snap ring holding the TO bearing onto the PP.

I never really posted before, but i just did this a few weeks ago so i thought i would. What i did is i got a socket that was the same diameter of the throw out bearing "housing" and just hammerd it out. Your supposed to use a press but my way worked fine for me. Hope it helps.

Okay just got back from a short vacation. The throw out bearing is out.. but that pilot is still in. I bought a few pilot bearing tools and they all ended up being to big. = /
