That happened to me a month and a half ago. I am just finishing rebuilding it. It cost me under 2000. Click my build thread in my sig if you wanna see how I am redoing mine. All I can suggest is all new wiring, upper intake manifold, of course all hoses and lines, and anything else that was destroyed. It is a bitch to fix it but so far I think mine is worth it. Sorry to hear about yours I know exactly what your feelin....except I didn't have insurance coverage for that.

unfortunately BOTH front quarterpanels, bumper and hood were destroyed from the firefighters trying to open up the hood.

Did you end up rebuilding the motor???

How come in the previous pictures the unburnt motor had the adjustable cam gears and in the pictures were the motor is burnt up it has stock cam gears? You trying to fools us here?

J/K man, sorry to hear about your loss, hope you do a full recovery on payout from your insurance company.

TBC: Hardness test the head.
IJ what are some of the consquences of the head becoming too soft? I wish I had that test done while everything was apart....I don't want to chance it if my motor is going to implode from softness.....I have a titan motorsports metal headgasket will this offset any of the consquences?

i didn't want to start over thats the issue. This car was nearly complete. Waiting on a turbo and suspension and wheels....thats all and it wouldve been done

This is so frustrating. :icon_mad:

I could really use some help on finding a new body guys. Im fairly sure i can salvage the engine as it only has 8K miles on it
Damn, that is really terrible - clean car and set up. I feel your pain as this happened to a car of mine a few years back...

I have an black '88 turbo 5spd hardtop w/ only 80K on it that I'd sell if you're still looking. It needs some little stuff here and there but might work for you. I only live about 10 min from Perkasie - send me an email if interested.

On a Brighter Note!

Look at the timing belt. It stayed intact and is still good enough to use!

;) Don't shoot me!

I've seen that belt in person...it's a row of "strings" across the cam gears lol. it's such a shitty situation, I hope it turns out alright man.

that it is. a row of wires essentially. it better of stood up to a fire for a 134 dollar timing belt....damn@!
