Insurance Update:

Well.

bad news.

Got off the phone with insurance.

The conversation by far is not over but it left off at something like this:

Rep: "Do you have the title?"

Me: "yes somewhere, i just need to find it"

Rep: "Wait, is this car in your name?"

Me: "Yes it is"

Rep: Pause. "Well we could have an issue then since you are the owner on your parents policy, its supposed to be owned by her, we may not be responsible for this"

Me: "WHAT?!, I've been on this policy since i was 16, it better be taken care of"

Rep: "You are only listed as the primary driver for the vehicle."

-------------------------------------Few minutes later

Rep: "I need to speak with my supervisor about this"

Me: "Okay, bye"

------------------------------End

?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!WTF?!?!?!?! Not responsible my ass! Not to mention they were supposed to upgrade my insurance to a rebuilt engine but they consider anything over 6months old NOT NEW!!! Its not even based on mileage!! WTF.

They gave my car and overall "moderate" condition. BS, my car was just as close to Mint as you can get and anyone who has seen it can vouch. I went through their classification guidlines section by section and not ONE area was in "moderate" condition, only up to "Minor"

On top of that, want to know how they value my car?? They called a guy in jersey that recently sold an '88 supra and asked him what condition his was in and they compare it with mine. So if this guy had rust all over it they would look at mine and see it had no rust so they would adjust the value up. Thats BS. Anyone knows a mint car liek this sells 4,5,6 times what a non-good condition car sells for in the supra world b.c they are RARE. BTW, i know this b/c i asked how they value the car.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: depending on what insurance pays out....I NEED A NEW CAR ASAP...preferably a SUPRA

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Went in to make a sandwich after class when my roomate comes down telling me my car was smoking :aigo::aigo::aigo:

Interior is perfect. Engine bay is fucked. Need a new car ASAP, feel free to send some options my way this sucks

We believe it was an electrical fire gone wild. THIS SUCKS

They had to use the jaws of life to open the hood, thats after they have been using pry bars in every way possible including punching holes through the hood

Wow that sucks bad. Do you have any idea what happened. It looks like it started on bothe sides of the bay. That is weird. Was is running, as in started and idling, at the time?

oh boy, another car fire!

I guarantee it.

Particularly the ground wire. It is of inadequate sizing and I caught mine with most of the insulation melted away.

<-- People calling me crazy for re-wiring the entire car! HA I say. HA!

My "guess" after looking at the before pics..

Braided line to FPR rubbed through the B+ cable to the Alternator :(

Is it just me or did everyone just go check their braided lines to their FPR?

I come from a land down under
The B+ Alt cable is a problem all on it's own with the GTE Alternator so the insulation will either be soft while hot and running or brittle when cold.

I've seen a few where the plastic insulator has melted allowing it to short and burn.

That is the first thing I noticed too. Too close for my comfort. :nono:
Sorry to see that happen to your car.

Oh the carnage!!!! I truly feel sorry for you, but HEY! It's time to start over! You now have a parts car for interior and some body.

Good Luck

i didn't want to start over thats the issue. This car was nearly complete. Waiting on a turbo and suspension and wheels....thats all and it wouldve been done

This is so frustrating. :icon_mad:

I could really use some help on finding a new body guys. Im fairly sure i can salvage the engine as it only has 8K miles on it
