Don't know if this is repost but I thought it was good....

Subject: Toyota & Ford

A Japanese company ( Toyota ) and an American company (Ford) decided to
have a canoe race on the Missouri River . Both teams practiced long and
hard to reach their peak performance before the race.

On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate
the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior
management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person
steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person
rowing.

Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a
consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second
opinion.

They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat,
while not enough people were rowing.

Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent
another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structure was
totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering
superintendents, and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1
person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called
the 'Rowing Team Quality First Program,' with meetings, dinners, and
free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles,
canoes, and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and
bonuses.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor
performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and
canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved
was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's
racing team was out-sourced to India .

Sadly, The End.

Here's something else to think about:
Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the
US , claiming they can't make money paying American wages.

TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants
inside the US . The last quarter's results:

TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in
losses.

Ford folks are still scratching their heads.

IF THIS WEREN'T TRUE, IT MIGHT BE FUNNY.

Sad but true...
Your going to see more and more companies offshoring to the USA with the way the economy is going...and the south is a big candidate because of many factors. Yes America will have more service and manufacuturing jobs over the next few years - decades...not necessarily a bad thing.

I currently own an 03 F250 diesel, a 94 gt stang...and had to get a 91 supra again....
previously had an 89 turbo i LOVED, 95 cobra, 95 convertible gt, 94 gt, 89 thunderbird sc, 90 tbird, and a lot of other cars mostly just in the last 10yrs....
I keep going back to the Toyota Supra because its built a LOT better...even a 91 supra...i looked at several newer mustangs and toyota won out... WAY BETTER BUILD QUALITY.

See, it's only Ford US making that mistake, Ford Europe pulled their arse into gear in the early 1990's with the release of the Ford Mondeo, then again, ours are built in a German Factory to TUV standards and probably they wouldn't dare make them like the US division, simply because we wouldn't stand for that crap.

My Focus is built better than a VW Golf, i know this much...and a better diesel engine too.

Ford EU = raking it in
Ford US = being supported by the EU division...

Kai hit the nail on the head - Ford is pretty damn good in Europe - why the hell don't we get the Focus ST or RS here??

ford in europe = Economyyyyy!!!!!

if they were smart, they would bring all of those diesel vehicles over to the U.S.... even if diesel is more expensive, the MPG pays off in the end....

Too little, too late? Ehh... it's a [re]start.

The 2009 Ford Fiesta should soon be a staple of motoring life in the U.K., just as before. And given Ford's intentions to focus on this efficient little car in every market across the globe, it will be making a big effort to introduce the car to the U.S. for the 2010 model year.

As well as this:

You know, I can't crack on Ford too badly. I saw a recent Consumer Reports statement that something like 90% of the Fords made in the last 10 years are still on the road today!

The other 10% actually made it home :D

Funny, we manage POWER as well as ECONOMY.

Ever seen the Focus ST? Nope, didn't think so ;)

And how does a 1.6 litre engine that puts out 110hp and 177lb/ft of torque AND gets 62mpg sound to you?

i have a 12 year old ford transit. it has done 160,ooo miles and is still going strong. just had a replacement clutch
in 6 years and 50k miles all its had apart from services is a replacement timing belt and exhaust system fantastic vans even if mine is a bit rusty now

i also have a ford mondeo. its a 2003 model. ITS FOOKIN SHITE

ive had it for 3 years. done 20k miles in it approx and it has 60k on the clock

so far ive replaced the clutch (dual mass flywheel) which cost about £700
power steering pump £250
central locking module £600
exhaust (standard repair item i know) £200
im fairly sure its starting to develop a chuging problem which i beleive to be knackered injectors which is another expensive fix. also its about at the mileage where the rear axle bushes tend to need replacing. thats £500 for the parts

these cars are fucking absolute shite. its droping to bits inside. ive never driven such an unreliable car. there absolutely shite. my mate is a 2nd hand car dealer. he wont touch them at all. earlier mondeos he will buy hapily. but doesnt touch these ones with a barge pole

I recently acquired an 89 Ford TurboCoupe. Same 5 spd. as the Mustang, 2.3 turbo 4cyl., 9" disk brake rear end. I'll have about $400 in it when the paper work is done, and I'll do a little tweaking on it for shits and giggles.

Still, my thoughts on Ford are in my avatar...

Finfon - yeah i've been warned off that intermediate model for quite a few 'horrors under the hood' - seems that most of it wasn't nailed together in germany, but was instead built in Belgium...which is where the Mk1 sierra's were built...and how many of THOSE did you see past about 1995? :D
