Funny, we manage POWER as well as ECONOMY.

Ever seen the Focus ST? Nope, didn't think so ;)

And how does a 1.6 litre engine that puts out 110hp and 177lb/ft of torque AND gets 62mpg sound to you?

not exactly a powerhouse, but i guess thats good? and i'll never see one, i live in america.

and what does that engine sound like? sounds like a freakin diesel! torque torque torque! with super high MPG... is it turbo or no?

1 went through 1 tranny at 96k, then i did the 98 tranny swap.

I knew it. Every ZX2 owner has been throught at least one tranny. They are amazingly awesome. I went broke my first at 29k. The second at 50k. The third was going but I traded it in for my current car before it went out.

i think it's one of the turbo diesel zetec engines. they use em in artic cats too. I damn near bought one off of e-bay several years back.

yeah, for one year 98' mazda made a good tranny and every year after ford made the tranny's in the zx2's
if you have a tranny out of a 98zx2 they have a lower gering, and they hold up way better.

Annoying? o_O

And its not a Zetec engine. It's in the DLD engine family, the 416 specifically.

Ford's name for it is the DuraTorq - although they developed it in conjunction with Peugeot and Shitroen.

Yes, i meant to say that. :p

Also, I think BMW uses it in the Mini Cooper Diesel.

I loved my zx2. one of the best cars I've ever owned.

pnutcar are you peanuts parts from team zx2 that ripped everyone off for tons of money?
if so you're scum dude.

Nope, Im Pnutcar on every board Im on, so please watch the names. I was on some zx2 board looking for info on the speed sensor and pwr window motor, then I basically told everyone I have a Supra and zx2's are beater cars, not race cars. They all hate me lol.

Ive never sold anything on that forum, but if you check my SF rating, you'll see I'm nothing but legit. 100% positive on ebay too, since '98.

What the fuck? Someone else was dumb enough to by an Escort ZX2. AWESOME!!!!!!! Now I don't feel so bad. I had a 01 as well and that thing was great till about 29k miles. How many tranny's has your's been through?

Mine has 148k on orig everything and still going strong. I drive it like a grandma, but the best is 36.4mpg so far! I've got under $600 in the car, and thats including purchase price, tax, title, license, replacing ball joint, wheel bearing, speed sensor, 2 oil changes, air filter, plugs, and bulbs!

didnt ford say themselves they were an international company and not a US company? and i read on toyota cars that over 70% of the assembly and parts are in the US

I just never understood why Ford AND GM never brought the 4 cylinder turbo charged cars that they sell in EU over to the US&A. It has always rubbed me the wrong way.

What is ironic is that the USA Three (no longer the Big Three since Toyota is kicking their ass) are trying to be "retro" but are behind the curve on innovation. What is funny is Toyota kicking their ass at their bread and butter money makers (TRUCKS).

A lot of companies seem to think Americans only think about V8's, when it's kind of a self fullfilling prophecy as because they don't SELL the cars here, our only options for decent power is a V8...

Show of hands, who would buy a Toyota AYGO as a DD?
