It's a shame. I used to know Chris with the AE86 there and he'd give me awesome deals. Last I saw he was on some drift competition.

All Calgary dealerships use the same pricing. Also, there's no way imaginable that a dealership in Canada can come even close to matching some USA prices. There are often times when you can order a part from Champion for less than a dealer will pay to get it from Toyota Canada.

I will give discounts to Supramania members, and other forums I visit, but I can't compete with places like Champion or Elmhurst, so I don't even try. Some parts are comparable pricing, and sometimes it's worth it to save on shipping and time, but I don't pretend to have the same pricing, as I would lose money.

Parts people are aware of the internet and what you can get stuff for, so don't think we're all ignorant and unaware. The thing is, I can make more money selling floor mats all day, than I'd make giving a Supra guy a good deal on a wiring harness.

There are different approaches to this business, and in a lot of places, especially in Canada, you're not going to get as good a deal as from online stores. We're not trying to screw people, just make money, like everyone, the biggest reason for higher prices in Canada, is Toyota Canada's pricing.

Also, we are a much smaller market than the USA, so sometimes Toyota Canada sources parts from Toyota USA, etc, which means it gets marked up by one more middle-man.

(Sometimes it's cheaper for me to buy a part from Champion Toyota than buying from the dealership I work at...)

Who gives a crap what your car is worth. The part is new and for a car that would cost $50,000 today, parts are priced accordingly. Just because your car ain't worth crap doesn't make the parts depreciate. LOL. ;)

I'll give my standard example to illustrate pricing.

I needed a new accordian hose.

Went to my local dealer because I needed it ASAP. I nearly fell over when I got the price. I had them order it anyway.

As soon as I left I called Jeff Watson.

Now this was on a Friday.

I had the part in my hands on Saturday - including next day air (TX to OR) AND Saturday delivery - for considerably less $$ total than the local shop wanted to charge.

The local shop wasn't going to be able to get the part to me until Tuesday at the earliest.

Let me tell you guys something about my adventures working at the Toyota Canada Parts Distribution Centre.

One day I was given the job of doing "scraps." What are scraps? Well it is stock that has been sitting for more than a year in the warehouse without an order. It can also be stuff they just want to move to make room for something else.

Well, they gave me a list and off i went. At first i was throwing things out like nuts, bolts, resistors, badges... small things. Then i got into the heavy shit: 15 ECUs for from what i could tell was a 2004 year model, (at a listed price of $500 each), huge body panels, hoods, windshields, many things..

All the prices for everything was listed right on the sheet.. i destroyed and threw away $64,000 worth of stuff in one day, simply to make room for other stuff that may itself be eventually destroyed.

After talking to fellow employees about this, i found out that a couple weeks ago they had also done a similar project: to the tune of $5 MILLION dollars worth of parts in a period of 4 days. $5 million dollars worth of brand spanking new toyota parts. ranging back all the way to 1986 (yes, they had some supra parts :( ).

The $5 million dollar load dealt with lexus dvd player units, stereos, and anything you could ever dream of.

Not only was it all thrown out, nobody is aloud to take it.. it HAS to be destroyed.

NICE.. i wonder why the prices are so high?

my dealer isnt TOO bad here. 170 for a lower 2jz oil pan, 22 for the baffle and 18 for the FIPG. good thing the shipping company is eating the charge (and i think the shippers are quoting me for the price of a 1j upper and lower as well)

my local dealer loves me, I get the same pricing as Champion, though I may have to wait a bit longer...

All the guys here owned MKIII's so they like to see a good running one, and I've always thanked em for their help in rebuilding mine...

I'd just like to point out that every company does this.
