a 1980 toyota corona wagon popped up for sale locally and i dont really want it, but it made me curious because i know about corollas, mr2's, pickups, supras, and such...but... not the corona.

good for anything?
special in any way?
all the above cars seem to have a fearture(s) or certain years of design throughout their production that make them good in my mind, but i dont know jack about this car and i wanted to see if i'm missing something cool. one things for sure they dont pop up that often, at least near me...

so yeah...

supra - self explanitory
truck - wont die (usually), pretty capable
corolla - drift or 4wd grip...performance can be had...
and for the most part all of these do, or can, look good.

but the corona? lol... would go well with beer bumper stickers i guess.:biglaugh: :icon_conf i didnt find much in terms of pics, but the few i found looked decent. let along finding a wagon, some were on cardomain but not good enough examples to tell what can be done w/them. i know the local one for sale states it has a 22r engine...sounds neat....

The PR's love em. They drop bridgeported rotarys in them here in Orlando and run 10sec 1/4mi times... if it runs the whole way down. 99% of the time they all blow up and we wait 60mins for track clean up.

It's probably the 20R, 22R was never sold in that body here.

Coronas are pretty tight. Forget any one of them with a 4 cyl, its just a commuter. The 6 cyl cars are where the pimp status is. Any M series motor will fit, and 1Js and 2Js with some work.

right, well the difference between custom motor mounts and drive shafts vs swapping OEM stuff around is big in most peoples book.

you can put a 1jz into anything, who are you kidding

how do the 1jz, 2jz, and 7m engines compare in external size and rough dimensions? i'm just curious how each fills the engine bay (without guessing with pics) and how tight a 2jz is in a mkIII. any custom firewall cutting needed?

i already know you need a custom job for the 2jz's tranny, so people use the r154 most of the time, right?

This was my 77 Rona 20R
Was sitting in an autowrecker with no keys, put a battery in it and a spoon in the ignition and drove it home.
Painted over the hideous stock light blue and ditched the steelies
