Simple math time. Using a standard tire size of 225/50/16, which is mathematically 24.7 inches, and not your actual circumfrence, here are some basics. To get the car up to 6750 RPM in 5th gear with a 4.30 rear end would be 147.96 mph.

185 lb/ft of torque won't cut it. Take its contmperary, and IROC Z28, with a 5.7 V8. It had 340 lb/ft of torque(at its peak). It barely got to that speed. And sometimes could only crest 140.

If you can get the car to redline, 6500 RPM, past the power peak, that is 142. If you can get it to 6000 RPM that is 131 mph, or what Toyota says it can do. A healthy fresh car should be able to do it. With newer wheel bearings(reduced load), tires, alignment, etc.

Well, this evening on the way home from an import get together, I came across a mustang that wanted to play.
I pulled 5900 in 4th (automatic, 4th = .705:1), with 4.56 rear gears, and 26.5" tires.
It was still climbing, but I run out of room (trafic).
This put my top end at 145mph.
I lost the mustang that was trying to stay with me at about 5500.
(speedo is pegged by then because of the rear gears)

I think there is more to be had.
My exhaust temp was only about 1250 deg,
A/F was at 12.7:1.
Engine is NOT stock........
264 cams, +1 valves, 10.5 pistons, headers, full 80mm exhaust, 70mm throttle. Timing at +5 over the factory specs, 15 degrees with jumper.

I originally had 272 cams, but went down to 264 to try to get better 60' times.
It didn't work, and I lost top end too boot.
Mostly from 7000 on up.
So the 272s are going back in.
I may try to lean it out a little, and up the timing a few more degrees.
I will deal with the sucky 60' times with deeper rear end gears.
Hell, I change front & rear tires when I go to the strip anyway, might as well change out the diff assembly to.
I have that down to about an hour job.

I have a BBK 70mm meant for a supercharged ford of some sort.
It had a smaller flange & bolt pattern than the mustang TB, so it was easier to adapt.
Besides an adaptor plate (piece of 1/2" aluminum plate) I did have to adapt the Supra linkage to it, and make a mount for the TPS.

But someone here has done several different set-ups, including dual stock TBs, that I found most interresting.

Is the BBK the Mustang twin?

Do you have pics of your adaptations? I had posted in the general section asking about such set-ups, not too many replies.

You have about the same mods that I have except mostly the stroker kit. Notice any difference with the larger TB?

No, not his twin mustang throttle, although that has merrit, just baddly done.

I had started the same thing.
I have the throttle, a 1" flange, and just aquired a JDM Y-pipe, that doesn't have the EGR passage.

The one the other member made, where he used 2 stock throttles on a NA upper, without the Y-pipe,
is the one I found interresting.

PM your e-mail address, I will send pictures of my BBK set-up.

Don't know what the throttle did by it's self.
This was part of the total build, that included cams, big valves, etc..
