I have hit 145 on my speedo too But I know that the Speedometer isn't as accurate a reading though. I did 140+ on the speedo twice actually. Same highway But the 2nd time was a top speed challenge with my Friends old z32 na before he bought the TT. He prolly blew a few Seals tho because he said it seemed like fuel cut suddenly kicked in haha. but It was still pulling and I felt pretty comfortable because the car didn't have any pull off to the sides either. And that was with Little/No Mods aside from High maintenance and seal, clutch, filter replacements. i don't think its possible for it to actually hit those numbers But I was feaking out seeing my Needle almost all the way near 140. :biglaugh:

dont know why anyone ever tries to see how fast it can go.... do any of you even have Z rated tires? ...

its so much risk to go that fast as it takes so long to get there, and the longer it takes to get there.. the more time your over the speed limit... and the more time your over the speed limit, the better chances are of getting plugged by the PO-9s..

anyway... ive had mine up to 90 hahaha pre rebuild

i would honestly prefer better accel and loss of top speed... would love to take better advantage of this engines torque

Look at the results of the Texas Mile for this past March.
http://www.texasmile.net/results/2009TXMILEMARCHFinal.pdf

Car #83 was a local guy here who has a non-turbo 7M Cressida (built).

132 & 130 from a standing start in one mile.

He said he was having driveline failure (half shaft),
and was backing out of it before the lights due to the back of the car shaking so much.
130 is where the car shifts into overdrive.

Are U Here 2 take My Baby
140 slightly down hill will some tail wind ;) Stock speedo ,stock size tire, intake, exhaust, alum. driveshaft.Thats my story and im sticking to it.

It was probably more like 125-130, after legitimately taking my turbo swap up that fast, there was no way i was doing a true 140mph

I got mine to about 120 passing a porshe on the highway. We were messing around after I left off there he went doing roughly about the same haha No it wasn't a turbo, just an older one but still it was a porshe lol

I've had the old NA up to 145 (speedo).

6,500 RPM in 5th gear.

Well you must have the most accurate speedo I've ever seen on a top end run (only a 2mph error) and the most wicked NA 7M ever built to be pulling 6500 in 5th..... :nono:

Well, I dunno, with the tires the car was wearing at the time (undersized) 70 MPH was 3,250 RPM in 5th, according to the GPS... I dunno how bad the error is after 70 so maybe it was only like 141 or 142.

You're not really getting it I'm calling BULLSHIT on 140+ with a stock NA at all....:nono:

I was drafting a WRX... does that help? >.>

I don't know what else to say man. I don't consider 140 to be that big of a number to boast about anyways since the Turbo walks by 135 like it's nothing (haven't gone faster than 137 or 138 yet in the new one) and the old NA took FOREVER to get to the indicated 145 MPH. I literally mean nearly a mile and a half from 135 to 145... which was probably 140. And that was only until AFTER the WRX I was dueling off against passed me and I fell into his draft.

I thought the draft only mattered much above 175. :x

After I fitted the (oversized) Kuhmo Ecsta SUV tires (255-50R17 lulz) the car refused to break 120 and I always blamed it on the size of the tires throwing the speedo off (65 MPH was now 70-ish on the GPS) and keeping the engine out of its sweet spot in top gear... and maybe some kinda tire drag.

I didn't test the car's top speed once I switched to properly sized Ventus' but Alpha Werefox reported the car topped off at 136 now. *shrug*

1: Negates any effect from tire diameter/gearing

2: As I posted earlier the Magazine test cars barely topped 130mph and you can be certain your car isn't faster than those.

Wow im really suprized that yall have only got your 7m to 120/130.
I have a 87 7mge JDM motor 45,000 miles, everything stock, just no EGR. and ive had mine up to 145 plenty times. Mabye b/c I do maintenance by the book religiously.

I guess im just a lucky supra owner.

The car's engine speed limiter(fuel cut) won't allow it.

I got mine one of mine to 5800 RPM. There just isn't enough grunt to pull it harder against the wind. Taller gearing would probably slow it down.

The speedo in the US is only required to be plus or minus 7%. Toyota builds it optimistic, as some other manufacturers do, to slow the clowns down. Stable car at high speed when properly maintained. Nothing like 7 degrees of caster.

7 or 8 years ago these same conversations took place in a different forum on the exact same topic. Nice to know the world doesn't change.

15.8@88 comes out to about 198 hp. Are you saying their worn out engine isn't as strong? :sarcasm:

Even the preproduction ringer that turned 91 in the quarter couldn't go as fast as some of these guys do. I just punched the numbers in the calculator, 91 mph in about 3650 lbs with driver is about 219 hp. Or a little under the stock turbo which often did 93 or so.

fresh rebuilt n.a Decked head and block but still used stock headgasket, slighter high compression. Pacesetter headers, full 2.5" exhaust piping from collector no cats or resonator to 2.5" inlet borla muffler. Custom cold air intake, Exhaust manifold ceramic coated and heatwrap. Ported head and gasket matched the intake manifolds, biger throttle body, light weight flywheel, alum 1 piece drivehsaft, and racing hart type c2 rims that where slightly lighter than the sawblades. Also was a hardtop 5spd sport package 4,30 rear end cloth interior.

It took dam forever to get to 135 on the speedo. I probrably coulda squeezed out another mph or 2 but it just wasnt enuff rd, it took to long to get there

smh its shame because then i traded that motor for a stock 7mgte, did full exhaust and turned the boost up to 15lbs and it was like a nite and day difference. Ill never go back to n,a ever again
