Well based on everyones advice on the UK forums, i went out to a branch of Halfords, and dropped £90 that i dont have on a nice, comprehensive socket set - the joys of credit cards :D

So, without further ado, i introduce you all to....the £89.99 set of really cool tools!

Comes with 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive ratchets and sockets in both AF & Metric, TORX bits, screwdriver bits, spanners and some deep reach sockets as well.

All i need now, is a decent torque wrench (couldn't find one in the display cabinet) - anyone got a suggestion as to which one to get?

I know its really expensive, but I wouldn't buy anything other than a Snap-On

I just got a 250 pc set and am still in need of a torque wrench as well. I was thinking Craftsman, but I doubt you get them there. :dunno: I've been very pleased with all my craftsman tools. If you can break it(rarity), they'll replace it. (hand tools only, of course)

QFT. my tools are almost all snap on. all air tools and rachets at least. I have craftsman sockets cause thier easier to get replaced when i brake one.

in other news i snaped two of my snap on 3/8's rachets last week on one bolt.

lol :)

The type of torque wrench i'm used to using is the one where you undo a nut on the bottom and twist the grip to the right setting marked on the shaft, then tighten the nut - am i correct in thinking thats the micrometer type?

Well, today i finally caved in after weeks of procrastination and bought myself a torque wrench:

It's a Halfords Pro 1/2" drive, 30 to 150lb/ft range (40 to 200NM) and only cost me £52. There was a special offer on it so i saved £7....not bad eh? :)

I have a Craftsman torque wrench, if the bitch breaks, I'll abuse the lifetime warranty!

Last time I checked the torque wrenches only have like 90 days, if that.

Another reason I favor snappy for certain tools.

Erm... you know that torque wrenches don't have the lifetime warranty... right?
