Finally got everything where I want it, and spent 3 hours cleaning up the garage tonight. I'll snap a pic before the primer hits it tomorrow......finally. I pray it doesn't look like shit when the red goes on.

Funny thing Ken left out is that he had a autobody guy come over to help him and Ken wasn't satisfied with the quality of work the autobody professional had done so he went back over all of the work again....lol. This really is going to be a beautiful car. Too bad its going to be red???:biglaugh:

Red isn't my first choice, but I almost feeel like they're closing in around me. I have one south of me going under the paint gun and one north of me going under the paint gun.................Red's must be high maintenance.............:biglaugh:
Tomorrow has come and gone twice.............Where's our before pic??????? I guess it's best, I already have larger than average balls, and don't need any extra swelling before I get mine painted. Better yet, maybe the before pic will deflate them a bit, so I don't explode before finishing mine.
Well....this is where I start with the excuses. It stormed and rained HARD the last 2 days after work so I couldn't have sprayed if I wanted to anyway.
Yesterday ......I was going to mask and prep, etc. Then I started nit picking over my work again:3d_frown: :1zhelp: The left rear 1/4 had a bunch of door dings and was the worst part, I had that panel primered to check it. I could see some imperfections in it...very slight, but it just ticked me off. I really didn't feel like doing it again, so I didn't do squat last night. I fell into one of my piss on it, I'm tired of working on it, ready to part it out moods. Those of you who do alot of modding know where I'm coming from:icon_evil
Today......storming again, I cooked out, had a couple beers, then went out to the garage. I block sanded the primer with 400 wet, using guide coat. It came out smooth as a babies ass. It wasn't as bad as I thought. Amazing how the primer smooths everything out!! And when I lay it on with the gun it will be heavier so no worries.
This has been a big learning experience for me, I have read up extensively on every step, and redone things over and over. I have spent alot of time on some body work forums, which is why I'm not on here so much. Every single task takes longer than expected. I can't make any goal I set for myself, so I'm not setting any from now on, I work on it when I can.....it gets done when it gets done. I could never make money at this, I can't wait to wrench on it again later this summer with all my new parts waiting

Ken I feel ya!! When you have gone through all that work, attention to detail is key. There is no reason to paint on 400-500 worth of supplies if your not happy with whats underneath. As you know my car was all hailed out so I changed out all the sheet metal with the exception of the rear quarters, drivers door and top behind the targa. In the right light I can still see some imperfections in the roof and a couple little hail dings in the drivers door. It pisses me off because I thought I got everything. So just take your time and make sure its right. I am going to repaint my car again next winter only because I am just not satisfied. My point here is dont end up like me keep up your high standards and get paint on it when its ready. If its ready for chicago then great if its not then oh well. Its really about all of us getting together anyway. Thats why Im coming even without my Knocking Gay Beast...lol:biglaugh:
