To DDP or Not to DDP?

That is the question.:biglaugh:

I'm paying a visit to Randy (BIC Performance) this week or next week, and Im still debating what to get him to whip up and install for me. I really wanna get the DDP but being who I am, a cheapskate, I can't help but hesitate with my decision. Basically I want to know how much more worth it is to pay an extra 100 bucks for a DDP rather than just a normal DP. Can anyone give me some pro's and con's with this, i imagine there will be a lot more pros than cons. Basically, I'm a cautious person who needs lots of reassurance. :p

Ive been reading reviews on it for the past month non-stop. ( i jsut bought one myself)

On HPF there rated 10.0. not ONE person even had one thing to say. Its makes the turbo spool stupid fast, and MASSIVE horsepower gains are acheived. Im sure a few people will chime in here!

Well...I have heard that it will eliminate a lot of the turbulence caused by the exhaust coming from the hot side of the turbo, and the exhaust coming from the wastegate...In the stock setup, the two streams of exhaust are trying to cram into one pipe, and it creates a bit of friction (or turbulence), which means a decrease in power created.

i keep kicking around the idea of going ddp when i get my new turbo setup but its going to be a recirc. it will be more expensive but its having your cake and eating it too! the open to the atmo attracts alot of attention which is both nice and isnt at the same time.

problem is... that's partially how the stock wastegate works :-/

I just installed mine about 3 weeks ago and i got boost creep bad. I can't WOT the thing because it will creep from 10psi to 15, and i hit boot cut around 14. It kinda sucks. If you do it, get your wastegate ported and a bigger flapper so you don't creep.

yeh, it's nice to have quiet once in a while :D... on the other hand, i've never attracted the wrong type of attention w/ it

Go DDP. The sound hasn't bothered me yet, and I have had one for a long time. It's actually nice and quiet as long as you have the restraint to keep your foot off the gas.

For those suffering from boost creep... just buy a boost controller and set the thing for higher than you creep to. :) If that's above your fuel cut level, buy a MAFT and a set of 550cc injectors.

um... that's the problem... it takes me a total of 2 seconds of wot time to boost to cut in 3rd, 4th or 5th

it's retarted

no bc, no shims... and the thing is, the creep is rediculous... just immagine how well the car would be able to run if there was no creep... w/ an ebc i could boost almost directy to my target boost and stay there, but in 1st, and 2nd i have to wait for it to creep, and then by 4,500 rpms in 3rd, i'm hitting cut every 1.5 seconds (if i keep my foot jammed down)

prolly looking to get a .57 trim w/ ported wg, aem true boost gauge/bc, lex afm, and safc2

So if you have no means of a boost controller nor shims, then I'm assuming you're on stock boost? Okay, well, are you creeping and then hitting FCO? If so, just how badly are you creeping? Sounds like you might want to invest into a new wastegate...or at least find another one from a used CT26.

As for deciding to get a Divorced Downpipe....I think it's one of those "hate it or love it" type of deals. IMO, the sound of the wastegate dumping is sooo intimidating and raw sounding:love:...and while I don't think there are too many people that don't like it...to some, it can get annoying......
If you BOOST from stop light to stop light...:nono:

You've just got to remember though, it only has that distinct wastegate dump sound when you boost...and if you are on a happy CT26, sometimes it will be hard to "not boost"...but hey, it's just a matter of how heavy your foot is. ;)

I'd say get ddp, but to recirc or not is the real question. With the ddp and stock catback at 12psi I made 262hp 292tq TO THE WHEELS!. Is it loud: Yes. Does it scare people: yes. Do I love it: HELL YES! You'll just learn how to drive without boosting. An EBC would make it easier since it doesn't open at all until the desired boost level. I have the un-recirculated style and I don't have any boost creep issues, with a stock catback mind you.

I think the DDP is awesome and it would sound so mean but sadly I have decided not to get it because of Emissions =/ If you have the money go for the Reciric, unless you want the noise go for the ddp

Please correct me if i'm wrong but someone convinced me that the ddp isn't worth the money because it won't last all that long. Reason being that the turbo produces so much heat that the ddp would eventually blow a hole through the pipe. I kicked around the ddp but that kind of steered me away form it.

I have good knowledge on cars but i'm in the process of learning about turbo systems 100% so i try and throw in as many questions as possible
