To blow off or not blow off?

I ran a Greddy Type S and no matter how loose I adjusted it, it would still flutter at low boost (like under 2-3 psi). I got a Bosch 110 and now I run both, the Bosch recirculated obviously and the Greddy vented. No surge and no backfires :icon_mrgr

Well of course I am. I guess I didn't show enough sarcasm. I probably do need to readjust my BOV, but the quick flutter is nothing like what you're probably imagining. If you watch any Supra videos, (specifically the "Big Supra Video's), My Supra sounds identical to the way most of those MKIV's sound with the HKS SSQV. Just a direct comparison...
But yeah, you're correct. Compressor surge is not a good thing. :icon_razz

Hey, you never know. I had to make sure. ;)

I used a Greddy type S for a week and yeah, it always had some flutter.

Will, are you recirculating or are you vented to atmospheres?

:runaway: :runaway:

hehe, Sorry. I <3 you.

Gay.

Anyways, I think I'm going to weld up every single unique BOV (different sound)...have like 6 BOV's welded all along my IC pipes and see how that works out for me...:biglaugh:

Hmm...I feel like experimenting...

If you like the sound of a vented BOV but are still concerned of stalling wouldnt a Turbosmart dual port BOV be a good BOV for our cars? has anyone tried this bov?

I have a Turbo XS RFL...I don't ever hear any surge...but then again...that's probably because the BOV is so damn loud! I switch back and forth between stock and vented every couple of days, so that I don't foul plugs, or destroy my cat. (gotta pass smog in cali :(.)

To prevent stalling I would assume.

no, i'm running the maftpro in speed/density. i have no stalling issues. to help prevent any occurance of compresser surge, as well as to help keep the turbo in spool between shifts. i might even have them both re-circulate...

I have them both hooked up since it keeps the stalling from occurring. Your way makes sense though.

I have an HKS SSQV vented to atmosphere and no problems cuz I have the auto, LOL. My bud jesse has same setup on a 5 speed only troubles he has are driving normal from a dead stop but from 2nd gear on shifting is normal. It's a personal preferance but I like atmosphere, plus you can pop some nice flames that way, and its fun to mess with people lol. Yes it is louder and more whistle vented to atmosphere and mine flutters from -15psi until vaccum or 1psi max then whistle from 2psi and up.
