My cars sit in the drivway and is not on the road it will be soon.Ok so my car was running great last week.I took the battery out to get a parts car i was going to buy started nothing worked turned on in the parts car but anyways what this is all about is I put the battery back in my car and it started but it idles real low and the shuts off and it seems like theres no battery power,I need to hold the gas for the car to stay on.So i charged it 3 diffrent times and it ran the same so i checked the alternator and it was good and I went out with all my money I had and got a new battery and the car runs the same.I have now check engine and I looked at all my fuses.I even looked for a i/c leak but nothing. Please let me know what this might be or if this has happend to you.

I don't have an answer for your problem but I want to clarify something; the only function of the battery is to start the car (or run accessories when the engine is not running), once the car starts the alternator takes over and the battery can be removed as it then becomes a load to the charging system. So... if the car "idles real low", the problem is not the battery.

Ummmmm if the battery dose not have a good charge to it it will idle low.

That's not a good idea ^^. (unplugging battery while idling)

Check your codes first. Will probably throw a code 11...make sure the battery terminals are very clean and tight, and making good contact. If they are loose, it will act how you are describing.

Hopefully you'll be able to return that extraneous battery. :)

i;'m almost 100 % i know what ur prob is,,

when you disconnect ur battery teminlas, something about the ecu has to reset itself,, so when you plug it back in your will get low idle till the ecu resets..

it happens to me everytime I disconect the battery,,

an yes it stals on you a even if you give it gas huh ,, like you gotta wait a good 15 min or so till ur idle goes back up...,,

its not ur battery...

^^ There's your answer. It needs to relearn the idle without the throttle open. If it stalls, just start it again and let it idle until its warm. Usually mine resets within a minute or 2.

Might also be the alternator fuse... that was the problem on mine...

,, maybe,,
but, I'm like 100 %,,, on this one.. I got a short somewhere in mine an I'm too lazy to look for it , in order so my battery dont die I disconnect the teminals after every night of driving the ride, an obviously every day wne i re connect them my idle is low plus I confirmed it with a friend in the next city over that expeirenced it too...

Try this:
Start the car
Remove the battery while the car is still running
Does it idle different?

Not the smartest thing to do but if a different idle is all you get out of it, you should feel lucky. A discharged/shorted battery can cause all sorts of problems.

You said your check engine light came on. Have you checked for codes? Have you tried adjusting your idle?
