No they're not. They are actually very docile. If you back it into a corner it will hiss at you for a little while and then play dead, afterwhich you can pick them up by the tail and take it outside. The little ones will wrap there tails around your finger and you can carry them that way. I grew up in the sticks and say possums all the time. Hell, even woke up one night with one in my headboard rummaging around. They used to sneak up through the floor by the pipes and eat cat food. They're ugly but harmless.

Really. Possums, as well as skunks, are nocturnal creatures. If you see one wondering around during the daylight hours you can bet it's sick with either Rabies or something else. In that case they might be likely to bite. They will try to run from you before playing dead. They just do that when cornered.

If its foaming at the mouth get the .22. If its just hissing at you and its night time grab it by the tail.

I love how people keep talking about their .22's like they are a badass gun... I have had one since I was like 7.
