Attention: Pics/setups are still needed along with reviews! I'm sure other setups are missing as well. PLEASE REVIEW, even if you don't have pictures up!

Foreword: This is a thread in process/its early stages. I just hope people will contribute. This is what I've gathered so far but its late and need to take a break. I would also really like to gather more information regaurding the setups to even possibly get a general concensus for a given setup. I've included ideas below of what info to give if you are so inclined to contribute. Ultimately I'd like to get this stickied to prevent this never ending thread starting topic with a good collection of the most common combination of setups.

*For the mods: I've put this in general NOT suspension as more people will see it here while i'm compiling info. When more info is gathered, feel free to move it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Motivation: I know everybody asks for pics of every kind of setup all the time. I've been searching for suspension and so has gaboonviper35 and were fed up with not finding a definitive answer on what drops how much and what rides how.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Goal: Create a compilation mostly of pictures of different setups along with general thoughts of the setup. This will greatly help aid the community is what to buy based on their own needs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Member contributions: Please include LINKS ONLY of pictures of your lowered ride. I will add them to the first post(s) if the setup hasn't already been posted before or your pictures are better. Please include at least one pic of the car from a SIDE view, no wierd angle shots, this only adds confusion. Include as much detail as possible including but not limited to (triple asterisks are required where applicable) -

***Spring type (manufacturer)
***Shock type (manufacturer)
***Coilover type (manufacturer)
***If you have adjustable shocks, what settings are they at?
***Please include how the suspension setup has done so far, ie, stiffer, reliable, have things broken, is it the best setup ever, comfortable ride etc etc
***If your ride has been lightened, guess the approximate weight if you don't know exact.
*Approximate coilover height setting (not sure how this works, never had coilovers)
*Include if you have any other suspension related mods done, ie, swaybars, poly bushings etc.
*Spring rates (if available)
*Manufacture tested spring drop
*Actual spring drop (if you measured before/after; please measure from top of tire to outter lip of body, also be sure to include tire size if you do this)
*Year of vehicle (pre 89 or post, they ride as slightly different heights)
*Wheel/tire size (wheel can cause the appearance of more/less gap in ride height)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: Ill be pulling pics from threads i come across with enough info in them to put them in a category of some type, so if you see your ride, don't be surprised, i'm not stalking you :sarcasm:. Also if you see your ride, pm me some additional information about it please.

Review: This setup is definately one of the best setups I have ever ran, Not so stiff and not so soft it was just perfect! Nice and tight and with ST front and rear sway bars this setup is as close to track as you can get with out getting uncomfortable. I highly recomind this setup as it is fun around tight turns and mountain pass's.

This setup is definately stiffer than stock but still has a stock-like ride quality. It's great for a DD, but falls a little bit short when driving "spiritedly." With a 275 tire up front, a mild roll will eliminate the minimal rubbing issues. It's a great combo for a nice/cheap (money-wise) upgrade.

Have nothing to compare the setup to, but they sure are better than stockers I can say that they are comfortable on the streets. Though if there are any obstacles on the road, then the setup isn't comparable to one of a truck (have noticed, that the stiffness is comparable to the one of a ~91 mr2 (I think he had stock suspension, but who knows), maybe even a bit stiffer). Haven't taken the car to a track yet, but in the city it sits nicely on the road.

I love my H&Rs and Blues, its a bit stiff but I really like the ride. The second picture posted was taken about 15 minutes after I finished installing them so it's not settled at all. It got a lot lower. Only reason I'm going to get rid of them is to go coilover so I can go lower.

I dont like this setup as the RS*R springs are not ment for Takico brand shocks.

The springs blow the shocks in less then a year and the car becomes to low and rubs on the both front and rear wheels. The stance is nice but the setup is not that great and Takico's are to soft.

Review: I LOVED the drop these gave for just springs. Low but not ridiculous and a flat stance which I prefer. I really liked the ride with these too. It was stiffer than stock but comfortable enough to drive daily. Many say not to use stock struts with lowering springs, and for good reason, but the combo was extremely nice to drive for what it was and for the 5 years that I drove this setup the struts held out with no problem.

^^^ That's comparing to Eibachs and the current Tein HA coilovers I have.

I cranked 1/4 into the shocks and set the ride heights and haven't touched it since.

As delivered the Dampers were slightly stiffer than stock and a little wallowy over 150 but the 1/4 turn fixed that.

Car is very composed and predictable with no obvious bad traits, ride quality while a little stiff is more than acceptable, it's the ultimate fast point to point long distance GT car now.

Shock type: KYB shock for TRUST. 4-way adjustable in the front, 8-way in the rear.
My Adjustment Settings: 3/4 front, 6/8 rear
Other Information: Drop unknown, seems to be about 1"-1.5". The suspension is very stiff, comparable to a Tein RA. Not height adjustable.

Car: 1990 Turbo hardtop
Wheel: OEM wheels and Tires

It's hard to judge the wheel gap, I'll post more pictures soon but the drop is not as significant as others.

Cool! Take some good pics, don't really need more than 2 to 3 good pics, i don't want to clutter the thread too much. Don't forget to include information i mentioned in the first post please.

Wiisass

Supramania Contributor
This could be a very good thread. The only problems I see is with the qualitative part. Most people don't have a good baseline so stiff/soft/harsh/bouncy/etc are all relative to what they've experienced and sometimes are far off what they really are. I mean people have different tolerances and different opinions and that's fine, but I've heard people say that lowering springs and oe replacement dampers was too stiff and people say that cheap coilovers ride much better than stock.

So I would at least include who is the source of the information in the first couple posts. Just so they get credit and can be contacted for specific questions if needed. And also to know who is giving the info, it helps to know who it is and what they've experienced to compare this stuff too.

If you want to do heights, pick a point on the chassis that people can measure to. From the ground to the top of the arch on the fenders would work. Or to one of the ride height measuring points under the car. Either way, just try and make it the same for everyone. But also including tire size is very important for this because that will change everything.

And vehicle weight is also important. A lighter car will compress the springs less, so it will lower less on normal lowering springs and ride differently. So even if people don't have exact numbers and estimate would be good.

And for handling reviews, include what sway bar setup you are running as that will also determine how the car is going to handle. And what tire brand and model you are using.

If all that is included, you will be able to eliminate a lot of the variables or at least account for them and it will lead to better info.

I've got some Tein HA coilovers. I'll get some accurate numbers on them and take some better pics of the car. I have pics with both MKIV TT rims (close to tire diameter of sawblades tire diameter) and the 19's that I have on there now.

Thoughts on this thread (might not matter if a new one gets created and stickied in the Supsenion Forum):

-Everyone likes their own signature but I don't think you need the sig in ALL of your reserved posts.
-Also, I like looking at pictures of Supras, especially dropped ones, but it would be nice if they were clickable thumbs so that I could CHOOSE which ones to look at. Plus the numbers and descriptions get lost in all the pics.

^^^All up to you, just a thought.

Thanks for getting this thread going, it's been long over due. I and many others appreciate it!

PS - I'll be posting my pics and info in this post to try to keep the thread size down as much as possible.
