Bought the car in 2001 from Germany and it was my first car with my name in the registration...and still is.
Never saw one before with my eyes (supras are very rare in Europe),not to mention in Greece where I live you could only see it on magazines :biglaugh:
Didn't know much about this car, only that it was Toyota's top of the line sports car! I liked the body style of the mk3 more than anything else.
The car is a silver metalic, 1991 Supra turbo with a Sport roof & grey interior.
It had 130k kms (80k miles) then, without leather interior.
It was fully loaded with every equipment available for the european market
since it was a euro spec MA70 Supra.
(Power everything....steering,windows,seats,aerial,heated mirrors,central locking,cruise control,automatic A/C,anti-lock brakes,3.7 LSD diff,5 speed manual R154 trans,headlight washers & angle adjustment,front/rear fog lights,
factory CD player, front lip with ducts for the brakes (still have it:sarcasm.
Only the USDM spec options were missing cause they weren't available for the
European market....like TEMS,Super monitor,heated seats,lighted visors,TDS,
and SRS airbag. All except the airbag were added on my car by me later.
The mk3 was ALL 100% stock except for the AZEV rims....they were on the car .....and still have them. The car was in great condition, very clean!
Since I bought it from a Toyota dealer, they gave me one full year of
warranty on the motor/transmission.I was only the 2nd owner !!
I kept it stock for about 2 years and had a lot of fun with it! Hit 270 km/h
down the autobahn driving in Germany. Not bad for a stock 238 hp mk3 turbo!
After 2 years I added a Blitz turbo timer, clear front corner lights and twin dual
exhaust tips, and a Blitz SS BOV kit.
It was a clean car....The guy behind my supra is my friend & mechanic and
I am very thankfull of him, cause he's the reason why I know so much about
'sups'.He is a mk2 guy.He is crazy about them,and a Toyota 'freak'..who isn't?
Well between the period of 2003 - 2004 I got in to trouble with rod knocks. Two rebuilds of the 7M were done by 2 foreign machine shops, and 2 rod knocks occured in less than 8 months. Nick, my friend
mechanic couldn't work on my car that time (for personal reasons).
Then, after the trouble with stupid/sh..ty mechanics went to
my friend to deal with the 7M's rods ! .......4 years and never had one
blown (stock) headgasket!!! And I live in a hot country (Greece,Athens city).
During the rebuild of the 7M with a Greddy MHG and ARP head studs/bolts I start buying performance parts from U.S. and Japan....and ended up with:
(It took me 1 year to complete the project...goal was 500 rwhp on pump gas)
ENGINE : Completely stock.Re-built with genuine
Toyota parts.New oil and water pumps,
bearings,rings,gasket kit........etc.
Checked all rods and pistons and balanced
the polished crankshaft along with the
stock flywheel & pulley for more future
engine reving,about 7000-7500 rpms!
Last, the only 2 aftermarket parts: ARP
head bolts-studs, and a Greddy 1.5mm MHG
EXHAUST: 3'turbo elbow,3'custom DP,3'test pipe,
3'Blitz Nur cat-back system, stock exhaust
manifold
INTAKE : Big IC (core size 700mm x 300mm x 70mm),
Hard pipes (pipe size from turbo to IC 2.25'
and from IC to intake 3',Blitz SSBOV,
K&N FIPK,Greddy oil catch can,Samco rubber
hoses and connections with clamps.
TURBO : GARRETT BALL BEARING TO4, 60-1, P-TRIM
with 0.70 A/R. I measured the cold side
inlet at 66mm, and the hot side outlet
at 66mm.Got it from the U.S. and they told
me that is good for about 600 hp! With max
boost pressure at about 1.8 bar (27 psi)
FUEL : RC 550cc inectors, Aeromotive FPR and
Walbro HP 255 l/h fuel pump.
ELECTRONICS
: Lexus V8 AFM, Apexi AVC-R, Apexi S-AFC II,
Apexi TT and Blitz TT for more readings...
Trust voltage ragulator, Hyper performance
ground wires.I haven't made any adjustments
with the S-AFC yet cause I don't have a 02
stand alone wideband unit & some more gauges!
DRIVETRAIN
: Stock R-154 5 speed trans,stock 3.7 LSD with
ACT heavy duty single disc and clutch,SS high
pressure braided clutch line.
The engine bay looked like this:
The car was untuned and was running rich, but still it felt very powerfull!
I was streetracing from time to time...I was never beaten.
I was very carefull with who I was racing against...xexexe !!
Only thing I was waiting was to tune the 60mm turbo with the S-AFC and boost it to 24 psi...cause I was only pushing 14-15 psi .
Never got the chance...One night fire started in the engine bay while I was driving hard .I did not have a fire extinguisher with me and I was waching my engine bay burning for 2-3 minutes...real fire:icon_mad: I was shocked. I though I will loose my car. After 3-4 minutes I went into action.
Near me there was a back yard with flowers and small trees. I told my friend to come and grab the mud / sand & ground dust from the yard and throw it over the fire...After some minutes of throwing a lot of ground dust and sand
the fire went off.All the plastic parts,coils,wirring,some valves,radiator &
shroud,coolant/vsv hoses were destroyed !
BIG lesson...always have a fire extinguisher! I almost sh..t my pants...
After I bought another mk3 (burgoundy 89 model) for parts,so I can start
the rebuilt of my engine bay the way it was!
With my engine bay 'renovation'...I decided to add some other parts also.
To improve the 'looks'...performance and handling!
#I will update soon (have more to write and show you guys)
Feel free to make any comments:sarcasm:
