I've got a SP61GT (non BB) on my car...I'm happy with it. Spools fast and will hit 20 psi with no problem. The down side is a few guys have had issues with it concerning oil supply and seals...it does not tolerate pushing too much oil into it or contamination. I haven't looked at SP's site for a while, but getting the direct bolt-on was a problem...mine required the downpipe SP supplied increasing the cost.

I had a BOSS in my hands a few days ago...we're building a motor using the 67mm version...gonna be a heck of a motor ;)
It was a very nice turbo...I had to take it apart to ceramic coat the housings. The workmanship is top notch and it will bolt right up to a Cooleze downpipe (that's what we're using too). Give me a yell in a couple of weeks and I'll tell ya how it runs ;)

That's correct...keep in mind I bought the turbo almost 2 years ago. This turbo is a bit different than the usual SP61 most guys have ;)

I'm currently installing an SP61GT on my car, but not shooting for higher HP until I get some fuel tuning stuff. I just needed a turbo cause my ct-26 shit the bed and I wanted to upgrade eventually.

just pick up a 57 trim or 60 trim t4 turbo from garrett, t4 adaptor, custom t4 oil lines and a small a/r exhaust turbine like a .58 or .69(largest).

You will have 15lbs of boost @ 3500 rpms give or take. I have alot of mk2 turbo friends running similar turbos from garrett and the results are great. Not to mention they will put out 400rwhp 15-20lbs of boost.

The gt turbos from garrett are great as well, but they are a little pricier. Hopefully this helps.

alright, i've been looking at the jt turbo's today and from what i've read they sound like the exact same thing as the boss/suprasport turbo's. so those both look like the best to me. any input on this?

i'm also wondering if it's a waste to get a turbo to push 400 at first, then 500. when the turbo's actually meant to push 500 or more.

How's it doing?

and to answer the question, the SP61GT will get you those numbers very easily.. with ease of install too sice its a bolt on turbo.

the JT turbo's are made by John username jtamulis...
he makes them himself and he orders the exhaust housing from boss....
so everthing else is custom made except the exhaust housing and uses a bullydog style Wastegate
You can order a Boss turbo through john and get a discount of some sort, but The JT series is somewhat an upgrade.
i would suggest the Jt56 for you, u can use any DP that will connect to the Ct26 so the cooleeze DP, BIC( cant use DDP), etc etc...or if u want that extra bit of power go with the JT61 like me!
u can PM john, but i think he is in a pause for buisness, he had to move out his shop and now making a new shop i believe. go to www.7mpowered.com for Q's

he is a good guy, if u ask for his # he will chat about turbos for hours, trust me i know

ok i was just reading another thread about ballbearing turbo's and one guy said you need to know how much power at what psi you wanna push. so i think i'd like one that would push 400@1bar and 500@1.5bar or 2bar max. anybody know what turbo would do that? or any other advice.

you cant just say slappin on this turbo will produce this exact amount of power @ this many lbs of boost. It just doesnt work that way. There are way too many variables like different setups and motor combinations.

I think you should lean into tamulis's turbo or better yet pick up that garrett gt4080. it seems as though you want a turbo to produce 400HP and not be as laggy and still be streetable. Then 500HP on higher boost setting am I correct?

I've read this whole thread and you dont need anything bigger than the gt4080 turbo from garrett. Good luck

JT56 sounds like the best option for you , spools around 3000 RPM, if u dont wanna buy a tubular manifold and the other stuff.

u can alrdy use your stock mani and use your cooleeze DP.
so yea...
save you some money...

I'd like to give one of the JT turbos a try one of these days. The SupraSport stainless exhaust housings are very nice, I was checking them out at SILV.

give it a try and show us dyno #'s
i know there are ppl here who have it, but no dyno #'s:cry:
