Ok, i've read and read and read and i still can't make my mind up. I'm looking for a turbo upgrade. Here's my list of existing mods
1:Cooleeze 3" exhaust from the turbo back
2:Cooleeze I/C pipes
3:Blitz intake and BOV
4:RPS stage 2 clutch
5:and coming soon a MAFT pro

I'm wanting to make around 400rwhp. I've been looking at the turbonetics 60-1's, 935's ct26 street turbo upgrade, and suprasports stage 4 or 5 whichever. Of course i'd like decent spool but that's not all i care about. I'd like the cleanest looking, longest lasting and most reliable. Please Help.

id go for a bolt on turbo over a 60-1. not saying that you cant make 400rwhp on it but its going to be hard and you will be pushing that turbo pretty hard

I was in the same position around summer time. I researched some and decided on the turbonetics 62-1. It spools by 3600-4000 (saw a video of Bigaaron's car when he had the 62-1, tach shot). I'll have to wait a little while longer to find out how it runs when my build comes together. Probably doesn't help much, but I thought I'd post anyways :p.

The 62-1 was a little too big for a basically stock 7m. It was enough to cause some compressor surge at higher boost. I'm running a gt4082 now, and it starts making positive pressure at 2k rpm and hits 10psi by 3k rpm. I have a few videos of the gt4082, but not with a view of the tach. You can definitely hear the difference though :icon_wink

Hi guys,

I'm in the same situation, I was thinking also in the Turbonetics T61, but one in horsepowerfreaks told me that is better this one:

Precision Turbo T4 Performance Series Turbos Only - 67mm Ported S Cover T4 .68a/r, Journal Ball bearing, v-band

I don’t know if is to big?

This are my mod’s

Full 3" exhaust with out cats
I/C pipes of 2.5”
HKS BOV
ACT street kit
Fidanza Flywheel
Apxei AFMC II
Walbro Fuel pump with 12V mod
RC injector os 550cc
Lex AFM
Fuel Pressure regulador
All ARP studs
HKS MHG

And also I want 400HP’s, at max boost 22psi, because the fuel CUT.

What do you think?

With the right turbo you can hit 400whp at about 14psi or less. Do you have a compressor map for that Precision 67mm turbo you are looking at? If you do, post it and we'll check it out.

anyone know exactly how much lag your going to get out of the P-trim suprasport turbos. I'm just wondering because i want it to lag so i get that hit of speed and plan to put nitrous on the car eventualy to spool the turbo when i need it but i dont want the turbo to start to come in at 5k rpm without nitrous.

lemme throw this into the mix too. i'm only looking for about 400 at the wheels right now, but down the road the max will be no more than 500 because i'm not planning on going in the motor. so a turbo that can push 400 now and 500 later if that's possible. thanks for all the help guys.

If that's the orginal head gasket on that engine, you up the boost to make 400 HP and you'll be going into the motor ;)

Good job on the headgasket being the first upgrade!

I kinda agree with Aye Mate, the 67mm would be a little too big, and all the ones he listed would work very well. Going with too big of a turbo can be as bad as one that is too small.

yeah i did the headgasket first with arp head studs. as far as fuel mods all i've done so far is the walbro 255lph pump. i'll be adding a fpr soon also. but as far as injectors i'm waiting on those for a lil bit. right now i'm reading about the gt4082 bigaaron was talking about. thanks for all the input

I also agree with Aye Mate...any of those turbos will meet your goals. IMO, ball bearing shaft is over kill ;)

The reason I asked about fuel is a common mistake may people make...they upgrade the turbo without fuel. The added boost can cause the motor to go lean and BOOM...party over. Get the AFPR and some 550 injectors in addition to the turbo to make the power you want.

On mine I used the Precision exhaust housing which is about $200. The gt4082 turbo can be purchased from Precision with their housing for under $1k iirc. The exhaust housing the gt4082 comes with could be used, but it just would not fit the manifold and downpipe I already had made for the 62-1.

well i'm looking at getting the 550's in a lil while i just plan on slowly adding power so i can get use to it, that's why i'm sticking with the 440's for a lil while then comes the 550's. now when i get the MAFT pro i'm getting all the accessories. the boost controller, wideband, and the speed density.

Just throwing it out to ya man...believe me, there's more than one thread on this site when someone pushed more boost without doing fuel mods and detonated their motor. There's not a MHG out there (except maybe the HKS Stopper) that will survive that...not to mention your pistons.

Keep in mind when you upgrade the turbo from a CT26 you're not just raising the psi, you are also increasing the volume of air for a given psi. Fuel cut will keep you semi-safe, but if you override that without increasing fuel, you are standing on thin ice.
