Hi there!
I have my 1JZ-GTE/R154 in a JDM JZX90 "Mark II" Chassi, built as a Race-car for Drifting. The JZX-world forums wont accept any of my email-accounts, so I just gave up asking them, but the Supra MK3 uses the same engine so I thought ill ask you.
One of my stock turbos are probably having some serious issues...impossible to boost more than 10psi below 4000rpm, BOV-sound even with Stock bov completely blocked, and an minor oil-leak from the rear compressor-housing. Probably some WG-issues, worn turbines and probably a worn gasket on the shafts. But it's drivable and works OK through the rest of the season (but missing some power and lots of response of course)
So, a "new set" of used stock ones (500$) feels like a big waste money as this car will be driven Extremly hard, and i need as good spool as posible, so i'm planning on going single this Winter (I live in Norway, northern Europe).
As my ECU and Injectors are both stock at the moment, and future powergoals are max 400-430whp with max boost as early as posible, the T4 flange and housings will probably be To big for me. I sorted out that a T3-manifold with a decent turbo and External WG might be the best solution.
A good friend of mine is selling his Turbonetics Stage 3 E46 turbo, but i think this turbo is a bit to small for a 2,5L application... but its almost new and goes for about 550$.
But, what is the cheapest, but best option available for 400-450whp? I will get some 440cc injectors, FCD and a SAFC later on.. but I have to be able to test it with evertyhing in stock. Peak HP is not important, I can live with lower top-end power if i get max boost and Torque as early as posible. Holseth, Garret, Turbonetics, OEM branded turbo of some sort?
I've been searching all across the internet for recomendations, but all i can find is turbo-recomendations for big numbers, and thats kind of a waste in drifting where you in reality want the early torque from a big V8, in a 2,5L with the sound of the six cylinder
All answers are appreciated.
Cheers!
