would it matter that the exaust manifold rides so close to that? wouldnt it make the oil hotter then it shuold be when going into the filter, or does that not matter probley

yeah i guess your right, if worst comes to worst it can be heat wrapped, i think im gonna attempt taking it off tomorrow and taking a grinding wheel to it, i've been reading alot on oil filter re-location and it just seems like a pain in the ass, not so much the oil relocation itself but getting an oil cooler adapted into the system like the stock housing does, so i'll see how it goes and let you know

how does your SS manifold not give you any problems with the oil filter housing... mine does, i need like an oil relocation kit or something to make it work

the design was revised. the ones that have problems were first run units. the new ones dont have that issue anymore.

i grinded the ridge down, and it fits how, it has about as much clearance that you do the only thing i dont like is i made a pin hole by accident at the top but it doestn seem like anythign would leak out of it because theres no way for oil to get to it, assuming that the inside of the roof is hallow... so i dunno what it would do under preasure

gotta get the flanges made for the turbo (quite annoyed the turbo didn't come with flanges) and oil return and buy ss lines for the oil feed
get my ffi finished and bolted on

get my car in primer........ one day LOL

the oversized ones that were being sold on ebay. the 4x4 toyota guys swear by that guys products, and from looking at them they seem to be top notch. got a set for the 6m im building too. oh, and the wastegate i have is 50mm. lol. though it doesnt have the vac hose barbs, or the plate that goes on top of the spring to adjust the pressure, so i had to make a plate. and ill go to napa later for the barbs.

heres my new ss turbo manifold.
sm_photo_missing.jpg

and here, you can see the ports to the tubes going to the waegate need to be ported alot more. for some reason they didnt open them up all the way. no biggie. i can fix it easily enough.
sm_photo_missing.jpg

and here is the wastegate bolted to the manifold and me holding the turbo up to it. it needs a 1in spacer for the compressor housing to miss the #2 runner.

all pics courtisy of dave a. and no, im not gonna use that huge turbine housing. im gonna order a 0.68 a/r for it. just been busy buying other stuff at the moment.

it better not come close tot he ground or im gonna be pissed. i need to bolt the mani and wastegate onto a spare 7m and measure the distance from the block to the outlet to see how much room is between the outlet and the frame rail. hope its enough for the 2in bend. if not, gonna have to cut the flange off and turn it 90 deg. and the other half of me isnt in the pic. wasnt what i wanted a pic of. lol
