click pics to enlarge :)

Just finished assembling the bottom end, all torqued ready to go

All lubed up so no rusty cancer starts :)

Sanding the car back to original primer ready for new gold pearl yellow paint

nice new rebuilt block, honed, machined to 17RA finish for hks mhg, arp head studs, rings and all bearings gapped and clearances checked and reco'd oil pump and new bearings fitted for oil pump drive shaft

the head i was using went soft on the exhaust side due to too many bhg's lol.. can't blame it really
so got a new head new valve stem seals etc and machined to 17RA to fit that bootiful 4mm hks gasket :D

to add to it, to4 hybrid turbo waiting to go on, still gotta get an ebay special ss manifold ;) also getting the new ffi welded up (the right way :p)

sooooooooo... untuned on 9psi i'm expecting 300whp or more, tuned with the new ems 8860 aftermarket ecu i want my 400whp and plan to get it on 15psi and 7MPOWER.COM here i come!!!

so ya.. there ya have it :)

Awesome Suze!
I have a feeling this is going to be one of my favorite threads.
Shaeff is also making a "build" thread, and I will be a helper in person on that project within 5.5 hours. heh

Some quetions:
How do you know what RA you are getting? Does the shop just tell you that? And then you just kind of take their word for it? I was wondering about that lately.

I see you are sanding it the easy way. I usually do my sanding by hand cause I am crazy like that. heh What color are you going with? Yellow again? I once painted my car the Vette's "Torch Red." It was red when I got it, then I painted it red. So I am thinking of trying something new. Wondering if you are up to the same thing.

heh... i just wanted to jump on the IJ bandwagon :p

well.. i trust my reconditioner infinitely :) he told me it's 17RA and so i believe him... he got my other head to 11 on the intake side but exhaust side was too soft and so the readings varied from 11 - 25.. i don't think that'll work heh

heh yea... i used polyurathane paint the last time round and didn't seem to bond to the primer i used so i'm taking it right back... and it's being a mission lol
so DA first... then block it back with 400... new highbuild, then new top coat :D

Still yellow... but adding gold pearl :)

Still yellow... but adding gold pearl
wonder what thats going to look like?
and when u say rebuild u must mean "I'm striping it all".
whats with the block? it looks like the paint chipped or did u sand it down to get it paint matched with the car color?

LOL yea i was trying to match the block to the sanded car ;)

im gonna repaint the block black... the yellow was great for checking oil leaks but paint must have been crappy or somethin coz it was falling off anyhow hehe

the only way to rebuild is complete strip ;) so ya, no wings and bumpers on the floor lol

There's meters (profilometer) that will measure surface finish. He must be using one because normally finish is in multiples of 2 until you get to the rougher finishes. There's also comparison panels, but you'd be lucky to tell the difference between a 16 or 32 finish, much less 17 or 11.
17 RA is very good.... a polished finish. A good milled finish is about 63. A mirror is 4. Polished is usually considered 16, although I've seen 32s that looked polished to me.

Anyway, it loolks like you're on you way to extreme street performance (and a money pit).

Just keep in mind that you are going to have to get a custom oil dipstick with that manifold. Everything looks good so far though. Keep up the amazing work!
