call me old fashioned, but nothing beats hearing a 396 with a blower perched on top sporting 2 950 dominator carbs... going thru 2 3 inch lines to magnaflow race mufflers... the damn thing makes more torque at idle that my car car does at full sing... and it lets you know... hearing it open up to 5k is just as thrilling..and somewhat frightening...

but as ck said..its hard to beat the sound of an i6, the perfect balancing and the firing order make for a great tone.

I've never really been that fond of the blower sound. I've only ever heard one car that I liked how the blower sounded on.

It just sounds like a Supra, I've only heard one but I really didn't notice much of a difference :dunno:
eh, thats not telling me much. 1J and 7M have two distinct sounds. i was expecting the 1G to have one of its own as well

I prefer the sound of Craftsmen ratchets compared to Snap-ons. The clicks just sound more solid

I can vouch for that one. I have Craftsman at home and we use Snap-On at work. They are both great, but the Craftsman feels more sturdy to me.

I have both... although snap on DOES sound a LIL weaker when it retchets... i guarantee they are stronger... it might be the number of teath inside the head..

I thought the number of teeth just made it where you could ratchet in tighter spaces [when you have very little movement in the head, sometimes you won't even be able to get a single "click" if there are less teeth].

You can't blame the wratchet for that. That would fall under the category of "misuse and abuse" of a tool. I should know, my co-workers and I are guilty of putting tools through their paces. I'm sure you know just what I'm talking about, DM. And it's not a crescent wrench, it's a crescent hammer.

I bought a kit to pull off my crank pulley, the day after I bought it I snapped one of the bolts off in my pulley. That made me mad, I really need to take it back, I've just been to lazy to go down there.

I'm gonna have to side with the Subarus on this one.

While I certainly like my own car's sound more, I really enjoy the sound of a subaru.

I have a few friends who drive them and I enjoy the sound immensely.
What I /do/ hate is the sound of a Subaru with equal length headers. As bad or worse than a honda.

Engine sounds.

V12 is best. (Basicly two of the I6's and they make tourqe like no other.)
V8's are nice.
Don't like V10's they sound like UPS trucks.
V6 is ok, but I6 is better sounding for some reason. (Depends on the car/muffler setup.)
Then we come to 4's.
I4 is hondaish.
V4 is rare. (Mostly on bikes anymore.)
Flat 4 is cool sounding. (I've owned a Subaru, and that motor is very smooth, and very fun to drive. I've driven the STI, and they are a kick as well.)
Flat 6, Flat 8 and flat 12's are all possible. (Only I have not seen many flat 8's.)

The flat 12 on the Testarossa was a sweet sounding engine. (Dual I6's again.)

I almost bought a 2000 750iL it was a very nice car, had amazing tourqe, and power, and the full leather package. (Everything was covered in hide.) But, the Audi A8 was about 10k less, and had the alcantera packeage, hot and cold weather packages and was in better shape. (So I'm enjoying the sound of a V8 in my sedans, and turbo I6 in my Sports car. The other vehicle is a 94 Q45, another great sounding vehicle.)
