My scooby sounds like a thumpy-edty thump thump shit sound compaired to the smooth indy car sound the 7m makes at 6k.

Although, I have heard a scooby with a "header" system on it, and it sounded like a pissed off way over powered 2260 VW bug motor.

And again, I have heard other scooby engine configs, and they sound like 1/2 of a sick (As in dying) v8.

That's exactly what I was talking about. THANK YOU - someone actually really heard and described it.

i like subies. i love the way they sound.
i like the distinct blatty boxer sound.

the only way to make a subie sound retarded is to put an equal length header on it. then it just sounds like a regular 4cyl...

its the unequal header that makes those cars sound really good...

Well, it's hard to describe, but the stroker version of the 7MGTE sounds like a I6 Ford 5.0V8. (Ok, they they got really drunk, and the Toyota and Ford mated, and 11 months later, out popped the Stroker 7M...) Only it's using Chevy spec parts... (Truely a bastard child by any measure of the meter.)

Some unique things about the stroker.
Rods are 6" long. (They are Chevy rods I believe.)
Pins are custom diameter. (Some say to use the Honda ones, they are lighter and very strong.)
Rod journal size is straight off a 327 SBC. (Easy to source inexpensive bearings.)
Stroke is 97.5 mm, v/s stock being 91mm. (Yes, you have to machine the block, oil pump and oil pump drive to clear the rods, especially since the Pauter rods have very thick shoulders and a beam design that actually hits the underside of the bores, so you have to pocket those as well.)

Bore is just slightly larger than stock. (Plenty of room should I have to rebuild this block in the future, and we wanted to keep as much material in the walls to keep them nice and round under pressure.) Stronger this way.

So, add it all up, and the engine sounds like no other 7M. Sounds meaner. more mechanical if that makes sense.
