Since you don't have TEMS I would def. go with coilovers as they will perform better than any spring/strut combo. Check driftmotion.com as I think they have a decently priced set of Tein coilovers.
I have been a subscriber to LFATV on yt and on his Supra build he is using these coilovers

I have tried these in my car and I regret the buy they’re good if u can’t afford anything else but i learned to save the money and do it right and if you get tokico illuminas they’re tems compatible I would’ve gotten them but no point since I don’t have tems

From everything I've read and researched, I'd save up and get either Stance, Fortune Auto (rebuild able in North America) or BC coilovers (which I personally have and drive great and are also upgradable)

If you can still drive your car and can stand to wait, I'd try to save for a decent set--that way you won't have to buy twice... I bought my Fortune Auto 500-Series Coilovers a little over 3 years ago for $1080 from THMotorsports and am very satisfied.
The Meghan track series are over $900 is that cheap or something ?

I have a set of hsd coilovers that I'm quite happy with in terms of build quality and handling improvement. They've survived quite a few miles and ride well, but I feel the default spring rates supplied are too heavy for the terrible roads I have in my area, especially in the rear. I'm currently considering a spring swap and revalve, or going fortune. What spring rates did you end up using with the fortune coilovers?
Hopefully this is pertinent info for the OP as well!
Mine are 12k fronts (which is the default for our fronts) and 6k rears which, as I recall, are supposed to be a little softer than the 8k default. I still had to dial both front and rear down a bit after installation because after driving for years on worn out Illumina IIs, it seemed I could feel every pebble in the road. After that, they've been great. I see they are now going for $1324 from the manufacturer.

Thanks for the info, very helpful. HSD mono pro came 18K in the front and 10K in the rear by default. The front feels OK surprisingly, but the rear is a bit much for me. I have both dialed down to the low end of the range of adjustment as well.
