so i went to my first drift event last night and the car was running decent, but rich. a couple hours in, after maybe 12-15 runs, i'm sitting in the line idling, and the a/f gauge starts drifting towards 10, then it felt like the engine loped, then it shut off. i tried to restart, but the s-afc wasnt getting power and it was pretty hot, so i bypassed it, and tried to start again. i noticed that the fuel pump wasn't coming on, and checked the fpr gauge, and there was no pressure. we pushed my car out of the line, and i sat there for like 20 minutes calling my father and uncle to see if they had any ideas. after the mid session drivers meeting, i went back to the car, plugged the s-afr back in and figured i'd try one more time, and viola, it started right up, s-afc had power again, but the a/f ratio was still in the 10-11 range at idle, and vacuum was at 18mm hg. i shut it off, and made another phone call, and started it again like 10 mins later, and everything was back to normal, so i swaped wheels and headed home. on the drive home, every once in a while at steady cruise, the a/f would drift into the 10-11 range. i haven't gotten to check for codes yet, but it seems this is electrical. could the s-afr have overheated? or could it have overheated due to whatever caused the pump to temporarily stop working? could it have been an issue with the fuel pump relay or maybe the computer?
